Hello, I have fully installed and updates both Windows 10 and PowerDVD 15. I continue to have a 4K Playback Issue while using any resolution over 1080P with PowerDVD 15. The issue can be seen here. Anyone know what I can do to resolve this? Any information is greatly appreciated, thank you!

What build of pdvd15 are you actually running?

What is your gpu? First step is Id update the gpu drivers. Many win 10 drivers have been poor quality and its being fixed by amd/nvidia/intel post the win 10 release. Pdvd uses the gpu allot and in windows 10 its a whole new WDDM version 2

problem fixed I suppose, I have to run the resolution at 23 or 24 hz or allow Power DVD to automatically change it.

It all depends on your display device and gpu

FWIW, pdvd15 can do 4k @ 60hz with the right gear

Mate I also have a Samsung curved 65" UHD TV. The thing is, If it's anything like mine you dont have display port. My only way of feeding my Samsung 4K UHD 65" TV 4K @ 60hz is through HDMI 2. The only GPU card that supports HDMI 2 is the Nvidia GTX960. And then, there is differences between the available HDMI ports on my display - for example the HDMI MHL port wont accept UHD colour ranges and HDR.

You dont have the right hardware to show 4K at 60Hz because you run a 770. Same with the other poster with the 980ti. None of those GPUs have HDMI 2.0 out.

The reason why lower than 60hz works for you is because through HDMI 1.4 you have enough bandwidth to send along the cable.

All 9 series card have HDMI 2.0 outputs.
I think your thinking of the 4k H265 HVEC decoder. That's 960 only. Haswell 4770k watercooled @4.6 ghz. 16GB RAM,
Nvidia 980TI GTX, Marantz AV7702mk2, Apogee Duet, 3x Adam A77X, 4x Mackie MR5's, 4X Mackie CR4
Panasonic PT-AT6000e projector, 120" fixed projector screen, Panasonic ST30 50" TV.

Ah yes thanks for that correction - 9xx have HDMI2 but only so far the 960 can do full hardware deocding of HEVC. But for sure the posters nvidia 770 wont do HDMI 2.

So I now have a Geforce 970, same issue...

I can however run the movies at 30hz which looks pretty good all around.

HDMI 2.0 supports UHD @ 60hz. Since you now have a Geforce 970 with HDMI 2, the rest of the chain needs to be looked at. i.e.

1. Does your display support HDMI 2? Do you have it plugged into the right HDMI 2 outlet? Many displays while having HDMI 2 only support UHD @ 60hz on specific HDMI outlets

2. Is your HDMI cable a high speed HDMI cable?

3. Are you sure your not messing up the signal chain via some craptastic convertor or adapter?

4. With the latest windows update and Nvidia drivers, what in the NVIDIA control panel do you actually see? Is 60 hz available as an option at UHD resolution? If you can select UHD @ 60hz what happens then?

1. To my knowledge every HDMI port on the JS9000 supports HDMI 2.0.

2. Every cable I have is an audioquest cable which all support the requirements for 4K @ 60hz.

3. Positive

4. In the Nvidia Control panel whenever I select any resolution with 60 hz everything is fine, unless I play a movie above 30 hz.

Ok understood

a) I looked at your symptom screenshot. Is the source content 2d or 3d? Im having major dramas myself with 3d playback on powerdvd software. I can however do 2d movies just fine from bluray disc to say h264 MKV encoded stuff on UHD@60hz. Can you post a sample so I can see if I replicate too? Does it happen on any type of film encoding or container forma or does it happen only on specific typest? e.g. MP4, MKV, H265, HEVC, VC-1, MPEG2 etcetc

b) When you say problems in UHD above 30hz, do you mean the actual refresh rate of the display above 30hz or do you mean video content at higher frame rates than 30 FPS, say high motion 60 FPS films?

c) I was in the same case as you with my HDMI 2 display ports for my UHD display. Each of the ports are HDMI 2. However I was not until I carefully read the manual which is hundred pages plus did I actually discover that despite all ports being HDMI 2, some of them dont support certain features. Like only one port does ARC, one port does 60 hz with high colour gamut etcetc. I wouldnt be suprised if yours is the same and you need to change the port your using. Read the manual thoroughly.

I have the same problem after bying/connecting a 4k reciever (Denon AVR-X4200W, between computer and TV). Connecting directly to the TV always works perfect,
I haven't had time to fully investigate the issue though.

You want to try and mess with the 4:2:0, 4:4:4 and trucolor settings on your amp too.
Might have something to do with that. Haswell 4770k watercooled @4.6 ghz. 16GB RAM,
Nvidia 980TI GTX, Marantz AV7702mk2, Apogee Duet, 3x Adam A77X, 4x Mackie MR5's, 4X Mackie CR4
Panasonic PT-AT6000e projector, 120" fixed projector screen, Panasonic ST30 50" TV.

The real issue may be HDCP 2.2...Which only the Nvidia gtx 960 and 950 possess.

I have encountered simuliar problem. I am using PowerDVD 16 with Geforce GTX 960 (Asus STRIX-GTX960-DC2OC-2GD5) and my display is Sony KD-55S8500C. However, mine problem happens only when movie menu displayed. It was normal during movie playback. A workaround to settle the problem is changing the refresh rate from 60Hz to 24Hz.

I tried to contact technical support of Cyberlink. They didn't provide any update patch for the issue. They just advised to update display card driver and disable video or performance enhancement features of the player. But none of the advices can resolve the problem.

From my point of view, I don't think it's caused by display card or display because Windows GUI, desktop and other applications display normal under 4K@60Hz. Only the playback screen of the player have such problem. Even though the player was changed to windows mode instead of full screen mode, the problem still happened on the player's screen only while the GUI of other else are normal.
