PD13 Preview has wrong aspect ratio?

Used PD8 for years, with W7. Recently saved a project (slideshow). Upgraded to Windows 10 and then upgraded to PD13. Opened the PD8 project. All looks fine except the Preview (in both Edit and Create) seems to have altered the aspect ratio, and it appears it won't burn correctly now. Everything was 16:9, as before, but the preview looks 'skinnier'. I had manual zooms on every single pic and really don't want to start over. Ideas?

As an aside, I had created an mpeg2 of the finished slideshow in PD8. When I bring that up in PD13, it looks fine. However, because I could only create the mpeg2 with the HQ-Best Quality setting in PD8, it won't be as good in quality as if I created the mpeg2 with PD13 in HD, correct? (I also got a bluray burner and want the best quality, although not sure it will be worth the time of manually zooming 400 pics again.) PD13, Win10 (64bit)

Hi chetnet ,
Show us what you're looking at in the Edit workspace. We need to see what distortion you are referring to.

If you're editing HD and then select to produce an HD video of the same resolution as the original, you will retain the same quality.

Thanks for reply! Attached are 2 pics. The one previewing the content itself is fine. The preview from timeline is squished. I'm wondering if this is just due to the PD8 project conversion?? I"ll do a quick test, from scratch, after work, to see if PD13 has any problems without the PD8 'project conversion'.

It seemed to have adjustments in the pictures, (i) on the timeline, if that.

One option:

To try to select one or more photos and apply Magic Motion (Motion Designer or User Defined) make new adjustments to correct the error. AMD-FX 8350 / 8GB DDR3
SSD SUV400S37240G / 2-HD WD 1TB
AMD Radeon R9 270 / AOC M2470SWD
Windows 7-64 / PD16 Ultimate

Hi chetnet,

Thanks for the images - certainly shows us the issue. Further option to what PlaySound has suggested.

Please see the attached image - choose one of the options - it might correct the issue. I'm wondering if you have in PDR8 changed the image display and basically PDR13 is misreading the info.

Thanks guys for the replies. It appears PD13 is converting the PD8 Magic Motion incorrectly for some reason. I did the stretch thing and it removed the magic motion but didn't change the problem. If I added a brand new pic, and did magic motion, it was fine. So, it appears if I want better quality than the PD8 mpeg2 I produced, I'm going to have to redo all 400 pics, ugghhhh.

Btw, I like to alternate between a zoom-in and a zoom-out in my slideshows. Have they created a mass-alternate select in PD13, like choose all odd frames for an effect, and then even frames? Just wondering.

Thanks again! PD13, Win10 (64bit)

Hi chetnet -

Almost is the answer. It's pretty easy... except that you have 400 images.

You can select every second photo using Ctrl + Click - that's 200 clicks - then go to Magic Motion and set a Zoom In path. Next select the remaining photos (not marked with an i - that's another 200 clicks - and set a Zoom Out path.

OR

Put half the photos in the timeline - go to MM - set the Zoom In path - Apply to All. Then drop the rest in - select them (lasoo) - go to MM - set a Zoom Out path... then re-order the photos.
