The menus, title templets, motion objects, etc are all very helpful in creating my projects. Kudos for all the creators that allow us to share their projects.

I do have one question . . . after I download & extract the .dzt files, what happens then? Are they extract to a Cyberlink folder on my hard drive and/or do they stay in that same .dzt format?

The reason I'm asking is that I am using one of the title templetes in my project and was hoping I could take that background picture (hoping it was extracted as a .jpg file somewhere) and use that picture to print on the DVD that I created. I've tried "copy & paste" in the title designer area and that didn't work.

Is that possible and it that allowed by the creators? I'm assuming that since they allow us to download them, they will allow us to print the picture on a DVD . . .

If anyone knows if it can be done, please respond quickly . . . I'm kind of under the gun to finish this REAL SOON!

Hi Cindy,

I hope you're keeping well. Right, I see you have to find some info.

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\CyberLink

You should find the installed DirectorZone stuff at this directory address.

Dafydd

Hi Cindy,
Dafydd has given you the location, and the various files are extracted into the standard Cyberlink structure.

You can access and identify the background images etc by studying the detail in the appropriate .xml files BUT they are not named as standard image files.

They can be accessed but only with some changes but I wonder if you're right that there is a "copyright" issue and therefore they have been "hidden" to prevent easy and general access. It certainly isn't the easiest approach to implement (and not one I would advise) - I would have thought using a screen capture/snapshot might be better if you want the image.

I would prefer not to go into more detail until the copyright question has been answered. Maybe Dafydd might be able to get that resolved??

Cheers

Thanks to both of you for the information. I was able to access the downloaded files in the directory that dafydd recommended. Actually, each extracted file had in its directory at least a .png or .jpeg file that I was easily able to to copy & paste into the dvd printing software.

It looks like most of the files the creators use are just standard stock photos and/or clip art & fonts that they have manipulated to make the project. Hope there isn't a problem using them as long as we don't sell them . . .

I do have another couple of questions about the director zone templates:

1. After I download and extract them, can I delete the the .dzt files or do they have to stay on my hard drive for me to use the templates?

2. If I "accidently" download the same template twice, it looks like it shows up twice in my workspace (unless one is a regular size and one is widescreen size). Can I delete one and the other one will still be there?

3. Finally, is there a way to rename the templates in my workspace to a name that is something more meaningful to me? I have tried to rename the file when I download it, but it still seems to still extract out to the original name. Although the German and French languages are beautiful, this English-only speaking American can't decipher them - sorry!

Thanks,
Cindy

Hi Cindy,
1. I think you can delete them, I just did and it seems OK.

2. Don't know, haven't tried it.

3. Using a downloaded menu, PD seems to allow you to rename the template, but still seems to use the original name for some reason. The xml files seem to hold the 'new' name but still leaves the old name to be used. You can edit it manually but it's a pain. I tried a different approach -

Load the downloaded menu template, click modify, click save (without doing anything), choose your preferred name, new name template appears in custom menus.

I haven't explored any further so I dont know if everything works like this but maybe worth a try??

Cheers
Adrian
