As I recall, the new version is usually issued either Sept. or Oct. The fact that PD is heavily discounting PD13 suggests to me (YMMV) that PD14 is around the corner. Regards,

Thanks for that info.

Cyberlink's web site is conspicuous by its absence of info. about PD14. I guess they still want to sell off as many copies of PD13 that they can before the release of its successor.

When do Cyberlink start releasing info. about what's included in their new releases? I'm guessing not until it's actually released, otherwise that would hurt sales of the current release. Editing Computer: Intel I7-3770K 3.50GHz, RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR3 1866MHz

All I could find on net regarding next release see below

based on the released date cycles before and predict that Cyberlink will release the next new PowerDirector 14 version(Ultimate Suite, Ultimate, Ultra and Deluxe) in September 2015.

Here, looks back on some of the previous version release:

PowerDirector 13 – Release on September 17th, 2014.
PowerDirector 12 – Release on September 6th, 2013.
PowerDirector 11 – Release on September 19th, 2012.
PowerDirector 10 – Release on October 11th, 2011.
PowerDirector 9 – Release on November 18th, 2010.
PowerDirector 8 – Release on August 3rd, 2009.
PowerDirector 7 – Release on May 7th, 2008.
PowerDirector 6 – Release on May 14th, 2007.

I'm waiting for v14 and hope it works better with win 10, 64bit

But out of all the companies Cyberlink is one of the best at bringing out patches/ fixes etc:

so I reckon about 4 to 6wks

have a nice day

I think it will be here soon, help on this websites already carries several articles concerning Powerdirector 14, for instance this version comparison: http://www.cyberlink.com/support/product-faq-content.do?id=18607&prodId=4&prodVerId=1199&CategoryId=-1&keyword=

I just tried several contenders (Powerdirector 13, Sony Moviestudio, Corel Videostudio, Adobe Premiere Elements) and I think Powerdirector is the best one overall, confirming what I read in some comparisons I found on the internet. So I decided to purchase it, but knowing that version 14 is probably up and coming, I'll wait a little longer.

PeterjmTim,
welcome to the forum.
I have little doubt PD14 is about to appear, maybe within a week, just guessing.
Another good reason to go with Cyberlink, particularly PowerDirector, is this forum.

If you submit a dxdiag (Part B) and the camera you use for video, we can perhaps determine if your machine is up to the task, or suggest hardware tweaks. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

Dear Barry,

Indeed, this forum is another reason to chose Powerdirector, I have been searching around it already quite a while while testing the software.

As for your suggestion to supply details of my PC: thank you very much for your kind offer, but I doubt wether that will pose any problems. It is brand new, and my wife tells me it costed way too much money, but then again, she doesn't understand what components are inside it ;. It should be more than up to the task.

Mvg,

Peter

PeterjmTim,
just keep that link handy, and to ease your mind there is no personal information collected by a dxdiag, it's just drivers, components, errors, and the like. I hope your WAY-too-EXPENSIVE machine gives you trouble-free editing, but we are here to help (unlike the government!), it's free, and it's not just for trouble, it's also the entire creative process (within Cyberlink products, mostly) we tackle here. I have PowerDirector 12 and would like to upgrade. I know PD 14 undoubtedly close to being released. If I buy PD 13 now and PD 14 comes out in the next week or so (maybe even 30 days???), does anyone know if Cyberlink will honor a free upgrade to PD 14 if PD 13 was recently purchased?

Well, I do hope performance is indeed improved for 4K videos, and I hope the rendering for H265 is improved as well for CPU-only. Main Machine: Jetway NF9G-QM77, Intel i7-3610QM, Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 3GB, 128gb SSD, Windows 10 Pro

Since PD14 can/will/may make use of the encoding/decoding capabilities of GPUs like the GTX960, I hope/pray/wish that the GPU processing power will also be applied to faster generation of shadow files.

I only use 4K, that would be a major advance, since 4K editing w/o them is impossible for any lenghty video.

I hope they've also fixed the incompatibilty with later NVidia graphics drivers that requries an install of an old version of the nVidia graphics card driver to enable hardware acceleration. See here:

http://www.cyberlink.com/products/powerdirector-ultra/spec_en_CA.html?&r=1

PowerDirector 13 System Requirements & File Format Support

...

NVIDIA:
GeForce 8500GT/9800GT and above
GeForce GT/GTS/GTX 200/400/500/600 Series

PLEASE NOTE: For users of NVIDIA cards who have updated to graphics driver 340.43 or later, the video hardware acceleration feature in PowerDirector is no longer available. To re-enable hardware acceleration, please download and install an earlier driver.

(Which, BTW, is GeForce 337.88 Driver, Release Date Mon May 26, 2014 - well over a year ago!!!) That is unforgivable by Cyberlink - depending on a graphics card driver that is well over a year old!!!

Does anyone know if that issue has been fixed so we can all use the latest nVidia graphics drives AND have hardware acceleration in PD 13 and/or PD14? Editing Computer: Intel I7-3770K 3.50GHz, RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR3 1866MHz
