I'm looking for a way to set my mouse scroll wheel so that anytime I scroll forward or backwards, it's a shortcut for Seek By (frame, Second, Minute).

I currently use PowerDirector 8, and I can use the scroll wheel on my mouse to progress the video forward. I can't seem to find a workaround for that in PD13.

Hi DM. I think I may be your new best friend

There are two keys that move the cursor left or right by one frame, "," is 1-back and "." is 1-forward, so all you need to do is map those keys to the wheel up and down events in whichever order makes sense to you.

An easy way to do that AND to have the effect ONLY occur when you're editing in PD (any version ) is to download and install this handy, free utility called *X-Mouse Button Control*

Once you've downloaded and installed it, click on the Add button under the Application window and chose pdr13.exe (it it's currently running) or browse to the C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDirector13 folder and choose it there. This will let you customize the actions of all amouse and wheel behavior JUST for PD and it won't impact how the mouse works anywhere else.

Next, click on the Wheel Up list and scroll down to the Simulated Keys (undefined) option. In the Simulated Keystrokes window, simply type in "," or "." (without the quotes) and hit OK. Do the same thing but with the other key for Wheel Down, then hit Apply.

When you're done, the window should look like this:

Once you test it in PD, you can close the app and you're set from that point on

Thanks for the reply. That is a cool program and will definitely solve my problem. I was hoping not to run a 3rd party program, but oh well I guess.

I still don't know why they removed the feature to scroll through the video with the mouse wheel. That's been the only reason why I haven't upgraded from PD8.

I started with PD9, so I never knew about that feature. Using the scroll wheel now scrolls through the tracks in the timeline, and holding down <Ctrl> zooms in and out on the timeline scale, and it would be nice if the option was there to scroll frame by frame.

Maybe you could add that to the "Cyberlink, listen to this suggestion" thread
