Video fps choises

I have just resently downloaded PD 13. I have two cameras which I use. The other has DC 4096 x 2160 (24p), UHD 3840 x 2160 (25p), UHD 3840 x 2160 (24p), FHD 1920 x 1080 (100p), FHD 1920 x 1080 (50p), FHD 1920 x 1080 (24p), VGA 640 x 480 (50,25,MPEG) . Quality options are Pro, HQ and Normal.

The other camera has FHD 1920 x 1080 (60 fps), FHD 1920 x 1080 (30 fps), 1280 x 720 (60 fps), FHD 1280 x 720 (30 fps).

I am not quite sure how I should tune the three components to work together. I would prefer to work 50 fps as it being most popular in Europe, but since the other Camera does not have that option it looks like I have to work with 60 and somehow convert the final version into 50 fps?

If you live in Euroland then you need to film in 25fps or 50fps because TVs are 50hz. For the best results the hz should be divisible by the fps e.g. 25fps x 2 = 50HZ = PAL. - 30fps x 2 = 60hz = NTSC

PD will be very happy to produce an M2TS file at 1920X1080 50p for camera 1, but I think you will need to convert NTSC to PAL for the second camera.

If you film at 25fps or 50fps PAL use a shutter speed of 50, but if you film at 30fps or 60fps (2nd camera) use a shutter speed of 60.

In general, stay away from 24fps in Europe because 24 doesn't conform to the above formula.

Where in PD can I veryfie in which format (25/50 or 30/60) am I working?

Highlight the clip in the Media library or the timeline by RIGHT clicking on it and then go to VIEW PROPERTIES, a window will appear that shows all your video properties.

The fps is in the video section as is the resolution.

To change from NTSC to PAL by frame rate, or to change the timeline frame rate go to EDIT - PREFERENCES - GENERAL Panny TM10, GH2, GH4,

To do this I think you'll find that PD simply drops one frame in every six resulting in jerky video but there's no other option as far as I know.

To convert properly you'd need software that can analyse and interpolate every frame. I imagine the pro's have access to such software but it'll be horrendously expensive. Regards,

Do I get this right. When I load clips of 25, 30, 50 and 60 into PD, I don´t have to care about fixing any settings?

I'm afraid I can't answer that one as I've never tried to mix frame rates in one project. I was simply speaking from experience with video from my Canon G12 still camera that shoots at 30fps whereas I'm in a PAL 25fps area (UK).

Not at all.
