Is PDR 13 still using content from PDR 12?

Hello,

On July 1st. I went from PDR12 to PDR 13 via the upgrade download.

In C:\Program Files (x86)\CyberLink\Templates I have "PowerDirector Content Pack 12" installed 11-2013 and also "PowerDirector Content Pack 13"installed 07-2015. Inside PowerDirector Content Pack 12 I have only "PowerDirector 12 Content Pack Essential" but inside PowerDirector Content Pack 13 I have "PowerDirector 13 Content Pack Essential" and "PowerDirector 13 Content Pack Premium".

Does "PowerDirector 13 Content Pack Essential" (4.6GB) contains the same content +more compared to "PowerDirector 12 Content Pack Essential"? (2.9GB)? In other words, can I safely delete the "PowerDirector 12 Content Pack Essential", or are parts of it still in use in PDR 13? Being able to delete it would safe me almost 3GB space on my (only) 128GB SSD...

Can somebody please explain me how to insert an image in this kind of message, clicking on inser/edit image doesn't allow to browse to an image. Entering a link results in http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/.... as a link???. I don't get it.

Kind regards

If not use PD12, can uninstall Packages effects PD12 in Control Panel / Programs and Features.

If you happen to miss some effect can download it in DirectorZone / Cyberlink.

To add image here, Button Attachment, choose file, search your PC.

To display the image here.

Preview your message posted, right click on the icon Download, select Copy Link Address.

Click Button, Edit / Insert / edit image.

In line Source, right click and select Paste

Hello PlaySound,
thanks for the reply, but I can't really understand what you mean.
1) since installing PDR 13, I no longer have PDR 12 available so "uninstalling" is not possible, but also not necessary because I can simply remove the folder and put it somewhere else. Question was and is: Is PDR13 using files from that folder.
2) You write "To add image here, Attachment button, choose file, search your PC." I believe that was exactly the way IT DOES NOT WORK. So also this question still stands: How to insert an image into a new post?

Kind regards.

Hi Rudi -

I've always been a bit confused about the standard templates from previous versions - not customised or downloaded. That confusion has sometimes led to me having duplicate templates displayed in the libraries. My understanding is this...

PowerDirector 13 Content Pack Essential contains templates from previous versions

PowerDirector 13 Content Pack Premium contains templates introduced in PDR13

So - if you still have contents packs from PDR12 in the C:\Program Files (x86)\CyberLink\Templates folder, you can ditch them or store them elsewhere. They're superfluous.

Re: Displaying Images

You can either attach the image or upload it to a site like PhotoBucket or Imgur (either way, it needs to be uploaded). In your reply, click on the Insert/edit image button and paste the direct link to your image.

Cheers - Tony

Thanks Ynotfish,

about the content pack it's clear.

About the image however, I see what you mean, but it seems awkward that it is not possible to simply

attach an image into this "forum"? How come I having to download your screengrab from forum.cyberlink.com?

How does your screengrab gets into this message an thus directly on the forum?

Kind regards

Hi Rudi -

The image below was first attached to this reply, then the link location was pasted in the "Insert Image" part of the reply dialogue.

Here are two ways to embed your images...

If you do a directory/file compare between the two, you'll find a few elements in the PD12 'Essential' directories not in the PD13 ones:

  • Menus: Interactive, Memory, Petal

  • Styles: Beach, Interactive

  • Titles: references to PD11 titles

I've tried the above and, in my opinion: not worth hanging on to.

Then there's the premium packs: here it gets a bit more complicated.

One thing you could do is go into each of [Pip, Particle, Title] within Edit as well as [Menu] in Create and detect which is not a duplicate, then decide if you really want that element; if negative then remove the PD12 directories which you can do by: Control Panel / Programs & features and look for "Cyberlink PowerDirector 12 Content Pack Essential" (and Premium)

Your question made me realize the reason why I was seing double everything, since PD12 and PD13 have identically named elements under "Program Files (x86)\CyberLink\templates\..." which all show up in PD13. I'm removing the PD12 packs and getting 5GB back, so thanks for your post!

EDIT: Just realized after doing the Control Panel remove that the PD12 directories are still there but they now weight 1.8GB instead of 5GB. I finally hand deleted the directories.
