I am looking for a camera shutter transition that is a camera iris closing and opening. I have checked the transitions in PD13, searched Director Zone, google searched and looked at several effects websites, but I can't find anything that is specific to PD. Can anyone help me find or create one?

Do you simply want a closing and opening circle or do you actually want to see the iris opening and closing?
You should be able to create the first and I saw the second somewhere... when I get back from grocery shopping w/ my dad, I search around again.

I just remembered... I was looking at gifs online... http://joeinmadison.com/iris/gifs/rw_iris.gif

Use Google... it has search tools allowing you to search by type... animated

HTH

BTW... Shutter and Iris are two different things.

Thanks, but that is not exactly what I was looking for. The opening and closing iris is fine, but I want to use this as a transition in PowerDirector. Not sure how to do that with an animated GIF.

Yes I know that iris and shutter are different, but I wanted to get as many responses as possible by including both terms. Thanks for your quick response though.

But that's basically what you want to see right? the Iris?

I came up with circular wipe?

Or are you looking for this? (No it's not finished)

I don't know if it can be a standard transition, but it could be overlayed on top of two images or videos to simulate a transition

If I can't find a true iris wipe, this one will do nicely. Thanks for your help.

I uploaded the transition HERE.

It can be modified for the reverse effect. I layed the closing on the end of one image and the beginning of another. Then reversed it "Invert transition area" CyberPowerPC | Win7HP-64 | AMD FX-8320 3.5 Ghz | 8GB Mem | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB | WEI 5.9

I use Alpha transitions, they can be modified easily.

Not exactly what you want, but it has a very interesting effect.

Annex a project containing 3 transitions.

I downloaded from DirectorZone, but do not find the link now.

A little more detail about what I am looking for:

1. At the end of the first image (or video clip), the iris (or circle) closes on the first image; the background is black.

2. At the beginning of the second image (or video clip), the iris (or circle) opens with the second image inside. Again, the background is black.

jcardana's approach almost works, but I can't seem to get the second image inside the opening iris...it closes AND opens on the first image. I've tried putting the images back to back on the same video track with the transition modified to (1) overlap; (2) cross.

I tried putting the transition at the end of the first image and at the beginning of the second image, but reversed...can't make it work like I want it to.

I also tried putting the images on separate tracks; tried putting a black color board between them; I feel like this should be a simple procedure, but it's just not working for me. Frustrating!

Thanks to all of you who are helping me with this.

How did you "Reverse" it?

I used Modify >> Transition Designer and either (1)changed to Crossfade, inserted a keyframe at the halfway point and moved the slider to B(100) at that point then the slider at the last keyframe to A(0). The result is three keyframes that go from 0 at the beginning to 100 midway then back to 0; or (2) change to Overlap and moved keyframe at the beginning to B(100) and the keyframe at the end to A(0). I thought that would reverse the way the transition occurs. Tried several variations on this technique, but I couldn't find one that worked the way I hoped.

In Transition Designer, on the left, there's a "Reverse Transition" check box.

OKAAYYY!! Got it to work!

Now to download a shutter click audio clip to sync with it.

Thanks so much for sticking with me on this "problem". I thought I had tried all variations in the transition designer, but obviously had not. Thanks again.

Sorry to dig this up but...

Where exactly is the 'reverse transition' check box?
I'm looking at Transition Designer and can't seem to locate it.

I see:
Properties, Image, Border, Shift Progression, and Edge - but no 'reverse transition' under any of those categories. I have PD13 Ultimate. PD13 Ultimate - Build 3516, WIN 8.1, 64 Bit, 16G RAM, Intel Core i5 4460, CPU @ 3.2GHz, NVIDIA GeForce GT720, Graphics Memory(total avail.)-4093MB

I recorded these camera shutter effects audio using my Cameras and a IC Recorder.

I recorded three operations of each camera. With editing in an audio editor you can separate the shutter sounds.

jcard - Yep.. I saw that 'Invert transition area' after I sent this reply.. sorry

Carl - I've got a sound effect of a camera shutter/iris so thank you though for the thought.

I just need to DIGEST... what Karl3054 has said in the previous posts - about how do DO this.

Thanks for the responses though guys.
