Hello,

I have recorded a movie in 4k resolution and it is saved in a .mp4 format. Whenever I attempt to import it it states that the shadow file is unavailable and the import fails.

I turned off the shadow file in preferences as suggested and now when I try to import it nothing happens.

Any help would be great ta!

Let's make a start by finding out where you are importing the file from? What size is it in gbs? Any other info may be useful. Was the original file made with PD13?

What method are you using to import?

Have you tried closing and reopening PD13?

If all else fails, try converting it with Format Factory to mp4 1920x1080 HD which will reduce the bit rate. If that works in PD13you can try the suggestion to get round shadow files in this post http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/43102.page

At the end of the day using that method, you will end up with a fully edited 4k file via the back door Panny TM10, GH2, GH4,

Hello,

It was originally recorded on my z3 mobile and the file is in mp4 format.

I cut and pasted it onto my HD and I have tried to import it using pd13's import media function.

I have restarted the program no joy.

I wonder if it is the "cut and paste" that is causing your problem.

The z3, I believe, has USB2 connectivity, could you try to send the film to your hard disk via that. Or even by WiFi if you have it. Panny TM10, GH2, GH4,

Tried to import it straight from the phone. Same problem as stated in my first post.

Hi DustinMax & The Shadowman -

I've had no issues (ever) (a) copying & pasting clips from an SD card to HHD, then importing or (b) importing 4K clips.

You stated: Whenever I attempt to import it it states that the shadow file is unavailable and the import fails. I've never seen an error message like that, & it makes no sense.

The 4K MP4 file you have on your hard drive. Does it play properly in a media player? Could you please post the properties of the video? File size? Bitrate? Resolution? Frame Rate etc? You can use MediaInfo for this or just basic Windows properties.

I'm downloading an original clip from a Z3 to investigate.

Cheers - Tony

I believe PowerDirector 13 is the best choice when need 4k support, and if you don't want to sacrifice on advanced features that allow you to create professional looking videos, even if you are a beginner or have minimal experience with video editing. Not sure what you have done and causes the trouble, but I have no trouble editing my 4K videos in PD
