Preview quality between Lbirary clip and the same clip in the timeline.

Just purchase a new Sony 4K camcorder. Filming in XAVC S HD at 60p, not 4K as my PD 13 Deluxe does not support 4K. I import a clip into the library and from there it plays great in the preview. Putting the same clip in the timeline and playing it from there, it loses quality. And when creating a DVD with this clip the quality is the same as the timeline, not like it is when played from the library. Any suggestions??????

You shot your video at 1920x1080p60 resolution. You created a dvd at 720x480/60i resolution. Looks like your original video has about 6x the resolution of the dvd you created.

If you want the timeline to display better quality on the timeline then set the preview quality to full HD resolution.

Let us know if this help solve your problem.

The preview resolution is set at Full HD. I dont understand why the clip in the library plays great in the preview but that same clip in the timeline doea not. It loses quality, you can really see a big difference. Why do you say the DVD was created in 720x480/60i?

I'm a little surprised you lose that much quality when you put the clip in the timeline. That does not sound right. I don't have the PD13 Deluxe version, according to the comparison chart from CL it claims not to support XAVC S, maybe that's part of the issue.

If you want to maintain resolution, you'd need to create either a AVCHD DVD or a Blu-ray which the Deluxe version does not support.

To me you simply have a camera that far exceeds the Deluxe editing tool capability.

Although you are already being given information by very qualified members, I too, will chime in on the DVD question.
A video DVD is designed to be standard definition, it maxes out at 720x480.

The only way around that constraint is AVC-HD video DVD, which allows for high-def video playback, but can only be played by a Blueray player designed to also play AVC-HD video DVDs.

Thanks guys for the help. I think I may just upgrade to the ultra or ultimate version. I understand that you can not just upgrade and that you have to install the complete version. Just wondering if I will lose all of my projects from the deluxe version when I do this. I may have to start a new post to get some answers on this. Thanks again for the help.

Yes complete PD will open your projects created in PD trial.
And can remove the Cyberlink brand.
As the quality of the preview in editing, you can use the highest put the issue becomes very slow. AMD-FX 8350 / 8GB DDR3
SSD SUV400S37240G / 2-HD WD 1TB
AMD Radeon R9 270 / AOC M2470SWD

OK, just to clarify, I did not have the trial version, I had the full deluxe version. I need to install the complete Ultra or Ultimate version.
