Does THIS help at all? There was a mention of increasing video memory? I don't know, I'm a Win7 user. CyberPowerPC | Win7HP-64 | AMD FX-8320 3.5 Ghz | 8GB Mem | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB | WEI 5.9

Parallels is a virtual machine, so it shares resources with the host Mac. Since you didn't give anything to go on, does your Mac meet the minimum specifications for paralleles and PD? Exactly what problem are you having? __________________________________

Hi, When power director is finished generating the 4k files, i drag them down to the timeline, the program just greys out nothing happens i just have to close the programme, on opening it again everything i had done is gone. I have 2014 27in retina iMac. 3.5ghz i5 16gb ram 1tb fusion drive, 690gb is free, just got a warning low on memory, save program, seems like memory is the problem.

When I was going to run PD13 on my Mac as well as my PC I was told by Apple to partition my HD and install Windows 8.1 as an alternative operating system.
Then, in bootcamp launch Windows at startup and install PD13 as a normal windows set up and not use parallels. I've yet to try it but maybe you should.
By the way I'm running Yosemite on the Mac.

maybe a reinstall of it

when previewing my clips from the timeline in the viewer the video is extremely laggy and almost impossible to edit, anything I could do to fix this?

Have now got powerdirector sorted, reinstalled, powerdirector and bought 32gb ram, running now without any problem so far, my memory usage is showing, physical memory 32gb, memory used 23.84, so powerdirector must be memory hungry, But glad its now working

Congratulation Like I can see ( and recommend )Speed is the Father of the most Problems ....Spezial with 4k (Love my 4k)
We still have to be very careful with certain settings special in the Timeline .
The bigger the Camera and 4k Settings the more we are on the Edge . !!!!

I'd really doubt that PD is using 23.84GB of memory for your timeline. Please attach a pic, I'd like to see that memory usage of PD and your timeline. Or do you simply mean you've allocated 23.84GB of your system 32GB to Parallels Desktop?

Sorry didn't make myself clear, That was what windows parallels and power director was using yesterday, somehow the computer has settled down this morning, producing 4k video while typing here and memory used is 10.05gb, can anyone explain that to me?

Again, post a pic of your timeline so one can get a rough feel of your editing task and a pic of PD using 10.05GB of RAM (Win task Manager good enough). Yes, you guessed, I'm again totally skeptical of your statement, it is highly unlikely PD is using 10.05GB of RAM. Parallels Desktop will allocate a certain amount of your Mac's available RAM memory to Windows and then rest to Mac OS. This fraction is automatically set based on installed RAM and/or can be user defined and set.

PD is probably using a small fraction of RAM compared to what Parallels Desktop has been assigned.

One can glean a little info from that, basically that ALL of WIN OS and startup services as well as PD during your encode processes are currently using 3.2GB, that's pretty typical. Many WIN installs alone uses 2-3GB depending on user services installed, so PD is not using much RAM at all, as typical.

It appears you have assigned or auto assigned the Parallels Desktop session about 27GB, probably no real need to do this much RAM but as you wish.

Bottom line, what I glean from the pic is PD is using nothing near 10GB or 23GB, probably more like 1-2GB.

Thanks for the added pics since original post, Screen Shot 2015-06-25 at 14.15.48.png clearly shows PD13 using ~1.9GB of RAM during your encode process which is very close to my estimate of 1-2GB. As I indicated, one can reduce the amount of RAM allocated to Parallels Desktop if you wish. Allowing 16GB will be more than ample for most typical user timeline editing and producing scenarios in PD13. This lower allocation will give more memory back to the Mac OS if you need it there.

Your question is not really related to PD, I'll answer but won't continue a dialog as my threads often get locked or I get a warning to not post tangent topics. I'd suggested you read about your Parallels Desktop on how it works since you use it. This kb shows you how to adjust the memory setting.
