How you proceed depends very much on exactly how you want to edit your audio.

Do you want to normalise the volume levels? Apply effects?

You could simply produce your whole project to an audio format - look for the ♫ symbol under Produce - then you'll have a single audio file for the whole project.

Hi,
I have the video the way I want, I want now to boost, normalize and apply some effects to the audio and I'd rather not have to do it one segment at a time: The edit audio only shows on the editing screen when one audio segment is highlighted. When I highlight two or more it doesn't come on. This seems ineffecient. Why can't they all be highlighted and apply the same boosting, normalization and effects to them all at the same time?

PD13 does not allow select multiple clips and open the AudioEditor or WaveEditor.

The way I'd do in your case.

1 - Apply normalize all the clips.

2 - Produce, only the audio (all clips in a single audio file).

3 - Add this new audio in the timeline, in another band.

4 - Turn off the original audio track.

5 - Select the track with the new audio and open the Audio Editor.

Option:

You can add (import) any video clip's in AudioEditor, make adjustments and save it as one single audio file. AMD-FX 8350 / 8GB DDR3

Wow, that's incredible that it's so complicated. I thought I was just missing something obvious and simple. Am I alone in thinking this is way too complicated? Isn't this something that everyone that splices two or more clips together would want to do - link them and edit them together? Or am I missing something?

There are some audio adjustments that can be done across a whole tracki.e. all the audio clips in that track... Normalise (which cannot be done any other way & gain control across the track... in the Audio Mixing room.

As far as applying effects in ADR or WaveEditor. they deal with a single clip at a time... so the only way to bulk process is to produce as PlaSound described above.

I'm with tomballard on this one. The editor I used prior to PowerDirector had a global audio control that allowed the overall level to be changed, very useful in allowing it to be adjusted to match the normal broadcast setting on the TV. I find the level from my camcorder is always too high and it's a real pain having to adjust it separately for each clip. This is definitely a feature that's crying out to be added and I'm frankly astonished that such an obvious one hasn't been already. Regards,

Basic settings such as volume of the entire track and normalize, you do directly in the timeline using the audio control room.

As normalize levels between all clip audio the selected track, volume range, set to the optimum level, if necessary.

Does the master gain control left to right slider increase and decrease volume on the entire track? I avoid using it but it is there so you may not need to adjust volume on each clip individually on the same audio track.

That's exactly what it does tomasc! It's not "global" but it does adjust the gain of the whole track. See attached screen capture, which partly shows what PlaySound posted above.

Mike - I have the same problem when I'm using the built in mic on one of my cameras... especially an amplified concert.

If this gets to anyone with any influence, then if Cyberlink wants to remain competitive, then they have to fix this major problem I would never have purchased this program if the reviews had revealed that audio editing was so tedious. Look, any video of any length requires multiple edits. It's not practical for production work to have to go clip by clip adjusting audio, boosting, adjusting pitch, removing background noise, etc, etc. I understand that volume and normalization are available, but that's not adequate when one wants to take, for example, a lecture, edit it and improve the quality of the audio.

Yes, this is one of the biggest drawbacks in PD. You cannot apply most of the actions on multiple clips. You can either apply on a single clip or the entire track. It is the same for muting a clip and it is the same for slow/fast motion. If you want to apply slow motion on 20 clips, you have to go clip by clip. I cannot understand it. In most other Video Editing SW it is as simple as two clicks.

Check out the PD15 Suggestions thread. I forget if that is listed in there or not. After you READ the suggestions, if it is NOT there, suggest it. That sounds like a good suggestion to me.

Cannot edit multiple audio clips!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's been four years since this issue was brought up. Why doesn't CYberlink fix this?
