I am using PD13 v13.0.2907.1 and I wanted to save a project in a folder so that I could then save it to an external drive.

So, I created a folder on my pc desktop, opened the project in PD13, went to File in PD and selected Packed Project Material. The 'Select Folder' dropdown window appeared, I clicked 'Desktop' on the left hand side, highlighted the folder I had created and then clicked the 'select folder' button at the bottom of window. After the process finished I opened the file on the desktop and noticed that the whole Desktop (Videos, Pictures, Documents etc - about 15gb in total) had been copied, and not just the project I had opened in PD13.

I tried this with another project with the same results

Can anyone please let me know what I've done wrong, please?

When the "select folder" menu drops down you need to create "new" folder. PD will usually give it the name of your project. All you have to do is select where you want the folder to be placed.

To clarify: When you select pack project materials the "save" window will open. In your case select "desktop" and then at the top of the window select "new folder". You will see in the right pane a new folder has been created. Give it a name and then at the bottom of the window, making sure you have the new folder highlighted, click select folder and then it should all start saving in that folder.

If you still find that you get unexpected material in this new project folder, check its source.

Pack Project and materials, save all this on the PD timeline.

Videos, audio and all purposes, depending on the project folder is large.

If you have used in your project files (videos) that is present in desktop will be copied as well. AMD-FX 8350 / 8GB DDR3

Hi Tongal68 -

You're in good hands with The Shadowman & Playsound.

I'm not sure what you did to end up with a packed project folder that included media that wasn't in the project, but I'm glad you've resolved it.

You can pack the project ONLY with timeline contents or you can include UNUSED clips as well (from the Media Library).

Our two Project Management tutorials, with more detailed information, are listed in the video description.

With me at the keyboard, computers and software become capable of defeating logic, and science!! It may also have something to do with the fact that I'm from 'Downunder'!!

Thanks for referring me to the Project Management tutorials. I will certainly look at the video.

Cheers,
