I purchased and successfully downloaded Power DVD in order to enjoy the benefits of its availability of closed cpationing feature as Windowd 7 Media Center doed not provide this at all.

Unfortunately in spite of the advertising, it seems Power DVD does not offer this feature either.

Yes of course I have tested it with several DVDs I have already used on my TV sets and DVD players without any problem. But it won't work on my laptop. The DVDs I tested do not have subtitles which are not the same as closed captions. Some DVDS have one of these or even both.

Cannot anyone help me with this issue? It looks like I will have to request a refund from the store after all.

Yes, and I am wating for their response to "My Question."

I have had 30 years of experience with closed captioning, and frankly I have no faith in PowerDVD. I would be surprised if they even respond at all as closed captioning is one of those subjects no company likes dealing with.

Even Netflix itself was sued for not CC much of its streamed movies, etc. The plaintiffs won, and this is the reason they don't stream as many as they used to. Instead we rent their DVDs.

Hi,
as we do not have CC in Europe (seems to be an US only Thing) I cannot test it here. but from System spec PowerDVD should Support CC.

No, it does not support CC. It does support subtitles which are not the same as CC. So its advertising is deceptive. I am seeking a refund of this horrible program and to be rid of Cyberlink's horrible horrible horrible tech support system. Brrrr......horrible.

Subtitles are supported. Closed captions are not supported. There is a difference between the two.

I am in the US, and you asked which titles I see the problem. I see the problem on over the 200 DVDs that I have. For example, all of the Bones, all of the NCIS, all of the Lawn and Order, all of CSIs, all of Criminal Minds, etc. You just pick your own DVD that says closed cpationing (do not pick any that says subtitles).

Also please be reminded that the DVDs with CC work fine on my TVs with DVD players. They do not work on my laptop and my desktop computers. They do not work with the Windows Media Center.

The Power DVD I am using is PowerDVD15. I am not able to find out what version it is. It is brand new, and I see nowhere I can click to check for updates and version.
