I've been using Arcsoft's TotalMedia Theatre for years without issue, however since that software is discontinued, I'm looking at buying PowerDVD Ultra as a replacement.

I've downloaded the trial to see if it fits my needs, and at first appearance it looks like it's supposed to, but I'm having one major issue I'm looking for help on. If I can this this working properly then I'm definitely going to buy the software.

I use Windows Media Center for all my media activities. The role I'm looking for PowerDVD to fill is the playing of Blu-Ray movies which have been stored on my local home server. These are stored from my original discs and are not pirated, the computer connected to my TV doesn't have a disc drive.

When I go into Windows Media Center's Movie Library, which displays all the movies I own, I can select a movie and press play. With TotalMedia Theatre, when I do this, it launches the Media Center version of the application and begins playing the movie. However, with Power DVD, it launches the Media Center version of the application, but does nothing - it just displays a blank "Movie Library".

If I open Power DVD separately from Media Center and load a movie, it plays fine. How can I get Power DVD to launch a movie, from within Media Center's Movie Library like TotalMedia Theatre does?

More info:

I've uninstalled TotalMedia Theatre before installing Power DVD

I've tried this on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1

I have this same issue and have been trying to find a solution for several days. I even opened a formal support ticket (with no response). There doesn't seem to be anyone home at PowerDVD.

Looks like I won't be purchasing PowerDVD. I received a reply from tech support (after a long delay) which basically stated that the WMC link is only to get you into PowerDVD's movie library, and you can't launch a movie from WMC's movie library.

The software adds absolutely no value, and is only deceptive at best.
