I imported a movie into Director 10 and tried to render it as a different file type. When I looked at the movie produced it was almost black and white but there was a very small amount of color still in the produced video.

I though it might be the movie itself so I imported the sample movie provided with the program and produced another - Same problem

I then tried various jpg images and produced a movie these were alright.

I then tried 1 jpg and the sample movie - it rendered ok as an avi file but the others had the same problem

I installed the 3625 patch but his did not seem to stop the problem.

Has anybody else had this problem? If so what did you do to fix it

Thanks in advance for any help on this issue

Have you applied any Fix/Enhance or Power Tools to your video?

Click on one of the clips, Click Fix/Enhance on top of the timeline. Look for any check marks on the left pane. Uncheck any that are checked.

Color adjustments are in Fix/Enhance > Color Adjustment. Carl312: Windows 10 64-bit 8 GB RAM,AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz,ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB,240GB SSD,two 1TB HDs.

Hi Carl312 thanks for your reply

I checked the settings as you suggested but nothing is ticked.
However I reinstalled and got the same problem.
I then found that if I opened the file after production in VLC media player instead of Windows media play the file was ok. It must be to do with a windows codex file rather than a problem with the program.

Why not choose a video converter for the video transcoding to desired video format and then add to PD? I did that before with pavtube and the video can be played well.

It is a good idea to check the produced video in more than one player.

I am glad your video is OK.

On the Windows Media Player, you can install other codecs, K-lite is a popular one. Be aware that codecs can interact. Carl312: Windows 10 64-bit 8 GB RAM,AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz,ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB,240GB SSD,two 1TB HDs.

Hi Carl312,
I loaded the K-lite codecs in there still seems to be a problem
The problem appears to only be in 2 areas these are:

The first is in the clip viewer (right side of software) the video when played is in black and white.
But if you drag that same file seen in the viewer down into the time line from the imported files area it now appears in color when played in the clip viewer.

The second area it is seen in when the a file is clicked in the imported files area and seen in the software's media viewer the video plays in black and white.

The K-lite Codec pack has little or no effect in Powerdirector. K-Lite codecs are used by Windows Media Player.

They allow Windows Media Player to play files that are not native to WMP.

What is the MediaInfo for your file that exhibits the Black and White.

You may have a file with strange Video and Audio Codecs.

If that is the case a file converter may fix the problem. Carl312: Windows 10 64-bit 8 GB RAM,AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz,ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB,240GB SSD,two 1TB HDs.

Yes I thought that it may be a problem with the file so I used the sample video file that came with the program - result same problem

Do you have the installation media (CD or Downloaded program)?

If so re-install Powerdirector.

If not, the only thing I would recommend, is try the Powerdirector 13 Trial to see if the trial works for you. Carl312: Windows 10 64-bit 8 GB RAM,AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz,ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB,240GB SSD,two 1TB HDs.
