Do I need to "Produce" a Project of several previously "Produced" clips?

I'm having difficulty grasping the concept of the Produce tab (using PD11).

As I saw recommended in other posts, I broke up my home movie into several clips. I edited each clip to my liking, and produced each clip into its own MPEG file.

Then I imported all the produced clips into a new project, which is intended to be the complete movie that I would burn to the DVD. I added a few small things, like chapter thumbnails for each clip, and also did some minor editing in the project.

The question is, do I have to Produce the combined video again, or can I just go to the Create Disc tab?

As a related thought, is it a bad practice to Produce previously Produced clips - i.e. will I lose video quality by the repeated importing and encoding?

You can go straight to Create Disc. This produces the final video before burning. I believe that if Smart Video Rendering Technology - SVRT - is enabled it will only re-render the items you added since Producing. Regards,
Mike

I do this myself sometimes, throw several different pre-produced clips together, shot & edited at different times, stir well, then burn, baby, burn!cool
