Hey all,

I've been stuck for awhile on this and I'm sure it's something straigtforward that I've missed but I can't seem to highlight any options on the video speed settings. I was hoping to slow down or speed up some clips but it won't allow it, the only thing I can do is check on or off the stretch audio option.

Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated, thx!

Hello Dafydd,

Thank you for your quick response. I have gone ahead and done a screen shot of my problem. As you can see the action items for the video speed buttons are all grayed out and not clickable. The only option I have is to check or uncheck the stretch audio option.

Sorry to ask you this but how do I share the screen shot I just took to show you?

Thanks,

M

HI Minncy ,
A screenshot can be added by:
1. Select "Post Reply", it's just above the Quick Reply box.
2. Select Attachments
3. Select Browse and locate the image file on your computer.
4. Select Submit.

It will be very informative if you also give a screenshot of your Edit Workspace (as well as the PowerTool display)

Please advise what version of PowerDirector/build number you are using. Part A in the guide will assist you. http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/29701.page

Click on the word PowerDirector on the top right of the screen. Tell us both the exact version number and the exact SR number on the next line.

Was expecting Dafydd to respond. You have a oem HP version of PD12. It will not have all the features of the standalone versions. Click on the up arrow next to the word PowerDirector on the top right of the screen. If there is no update then do the following at your own risk.

  1. Back up your computer first.

  2. Try to install the latest update for the PD12 retail version.

  3. Don't panic if you find that PD12 may not work well anymore. Some things may be fixed while other features don't work anymore. This is my experience with updating oem software with a retail patch.

  4. Restore the backup if desired. You got what you paid for. Saved a few $$.

  5. You can always contact HP or Cyberlink tech support for additional information and help.

Let us know if this helps.

Hi tomasc,
Not sure why I didn't, I saw the answer to your question etc.

I might change the Part A* request to a screenshot of the "About" popup info. In that way the version build name (full name) would be include.

* Guide, top of PDR13 forum.

After a number of years, a user could purchase a peice of hardware that may include an oem version of Cyberlink software. The link for the software updates may be broken but sometimes the moderator of that Cyberlink forum (PowerDVD, for example) will post a different link to get the update that works.

Have seen other posts where users here have used retail patches on their oem software and find their software continue to have problems, sometimes different problems that did not exist before.

Gents thank you both for your assistance!

I have submitted a ticket to customer service. It might very well be the fact that my version that I received when purchasing my computer has some options that were removed. If not I'll go ahead and try with the updates as well, other than this one issue everything else has worked great!

Hopefully there's a quick, easy and free solution

I'll let you guys know what I turn over.

Thanks,

Minncy

Looking at the screenshot of the oem PD12 version, the speed of the clip can be changed with no problem. Here is how:

  1. The New Video length window is active and not grayed out. Just use the up and down arrow heads to change the speed.

  2. On the 11:22 window. Click on the 11 and the numbers become blue. Type in 22 or use the up arrow head for 11 clicks to change it to 22. The clip will run at half speed.

  3. Change it to 05 by typing or using the down arrow head for 6 clicks to lower the number to 05 and the clip will run twice as fast.

Let us know if this allow you to change the clip speed. You may not need those patches if this works.

Hello Tomasc,

It may appear that it is not grayed out however when clicking up or down on the arrow keys it does not allow any actions same as trying to manually input a new number. Strange thing is that I only have the option of checking or unchecking stretching audio nothing else. It is the strangest bug or perhaps like you mentioned my version does not allow speed or down of video. However if that were the case why would it allow me to stretch audio.

Hi Minncy,
Do you have the original installation package/discs so you could re-install the PowerDirector version HP installed? It could be an "original" installation issue. You would need to contact HP to obtain the oem install package, activation key etc.
