Sound not working

Hi - i have seen other posts on this, but not sure if my situation is the same.

i just bought powerdirector with audiodirector and learning how to use them

i uploaded a video to the media room. when i double click on the video i can hear the sound. i then dragged it down to start editing and there is no sound.

  • on the left side of the track the audio box is checked

  • in the upper right where the video is playing, it is not set to mute

  • i see the white line across the audio track

  • if i right click on the audio and choose edit audio, it opens up audiodirector and i can hear the sound

yesterday, i was doing a bunch of playing around to try to get the audio to work and i did do something that suddenly made the audio work (my recollection was i normalized the audio) - so i know it "could" work. that said, during editing i decided to save my work, then close down powerdirector and reopen it. of course when i did that the sound doesn't work anymore sound and nothing i do (normalize, mute, unmute does anything). i can still hear it if i bring into audiodirector (but that doesn't help) and i can still hear the sound if i double click on the original clip.

help appreciated!

thanks

Mike

Hi Mike

Have a look in the Audio Room and try adjusting the sound from there. Look at audio track one, and slide the horizontal slider to the right. If that makes no difference try adjusting the vertical slider. Test these with the audio playing.

You should also be able to see a blue wave showing the actual sound wave. If that isn't there go to EDIT - PREFERENCES - and enable SHOW SOUND WAVEFORM. with this enabled, do you see the blue waveform on your clip in the audio track 1?

123Mike123,
welcome to the forum.
Do you have a short sample of video DIRECTLY from the camera, say 5-10 seconds, NO editing, which you might attach for us to test? What is the camera? HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

Hi Mike

It works fine with me, but as it is a test and not the suspect clip, does it work in your PD13?

123Mike123,

Check the volume slider to be above the bottom on the Preview.

There have been cases of the volume on the preview turned all the way down. Carl312: Windows 10 64-bit 8 GB RAM,AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz,ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB,240GB SSD,two 1TB HDs.

i brought the test clip into pd13, dragged it down and the audio did not work.

i then started a new project and dragged down the boat.wmv clip that comes with pd13 and i could hear that.

i then reopened my original project that wasn't working and now it is working, i can hear the audio.

i am so confused!

The attached file played perfectly here, using 13 build 2604.
I am going to assume the video was "blank" on purpose.
The boat video sample is a wmv so comparisons are tenuous, at best. A true puzzle. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

Hi Mike

So to clarify, is all well now? Sometimes you think, is it me? Panny TM10, GH2, GH4,

Hi.
I had this same problem and have just solved it by good luck
Below the preview screen there is a small icon for set preview quality.
Click on this and in the drop down menu make sure that Real-Time preview is selected and all should be well.
It solved it for me. Does not make sense but worked.
