So, PowerDVD 15 just got released and I haven't tested it much yet, but this is my first impression with the software, based on functionality. (I have always used PowerDVD and previously TMT for bluray playback)

  1. Where is the automatic refresh setting? Watching a bluray at 23,976 FPS(24) @ 60HZ is not great! This have been a feature in the previous versions of PowerDVD.. An option to auto change resolution and refresh rate to 60p 30p 24p is something I expect from a brand new product, at least in 2015 8 years after blu ray was officially confirmed to be the new standard.

  2. I got my HTPC connected to a 4K (UHD) television (3840x2160) and when I start an bluray disc (1080p) I can only hear the sound, no picture is showing. I have to manually change the resolution to 1080p to get picture in the player. (Connected to a GTX GeForce 960 with HDMI 2.0) All other players I have tried had no problem playing HD contend at my UHD screen.

These thing are critical and needs to be patched asap, the software are advertised with 4K support and "no.1 bluray player" with these things not implemented yet?

Anyway, will be testing the software alot more this week, if there are any other on this forum with feature wishes or bug fixes please post it here so we all can see.

We need Dolby atmos decoding. It does seem to mention it on the spec page.
So disappointing. Especially after the forum posts going back at least 6 months requesting it. Haswell 4770k watercooled @4.6 ghz. 16GB RAM,
Nvidia 980TI GTX, Marantz AV7702mk2, Apogee Duet, 3x Adam A77X, 4x Mackie MR5's, 4X Mackie CR4
Panasonic PT-AT6000e projector, 120" fixed projector screen, Panasonic ST30 50" TV.

Where did you see Dolby Atmos in specs?

No mention of Dolby Atmos here.

Well, they do advertise this feature on the new PowerDVD 15, at least for TV series so you may not miss anything... but they don't mention anything about BD.

However, I don't think you can resume BD. This is not a hard-to-implement feature, it was already implemented and then removed.
It may have to do with licensing and commercial constraints.

Didn't you notice that you cannot skip some intros with various copyright/warning messages?

Now let's speak about the practical part.

I tested PowerDVD 15 with two Bluray disks I had at hand. They both could resume playback, they even asked me if I want to resume playback. But I think this was a feature of the disks and not PowerDVD itself.

Resume is working for me and there three options to choose from.

Always play movies form the beginning
Resume playback from the last scene
Prompt before playback resumes

Update: Auto refreshrate is working, player will ask you if you always want change when it detects 24fps source.

Resume works.

3D does not seem to switch my tv into 3D mode.

I have that problem with almost every 3D source. There is a standard for "announcing" the 3D format of the source, but I don't think it's used much. Jerry Schwartz
