How to close PowerDVD?

Anyone know if it is possible to close/quit PowerDVD14 in Cinema mode using a regular MCE remote? The back button does not work nor for that matter does a keyboard backspace. There does not appear to be a keyboard shortcut for close and having to use a mouse to click on the "X" seems to me to defeat the purpose of Cinema mode. I feel sure older versions, 11 at least, did close with the remote back button!

All help much appreciated

Without going into too much detail I do it with key mapping software. My choice LM Remote Keymap: http://www.lmgestion.net/@en-us/4/22/60/article.asp

Many thanks for the link, the program looks very interesting but can you tell me what you actually send (key or key combination) to close PowerDVD14 in Cinema mode? Joe

It is not a key or key combination and Power DVD doesn't have one that it will respond to as far as I know, it may very well have though.

From my memory, the keymapping software I use (LMRemote) sends an application command which is "16, 0, 0, 0" which means application abort. You will need key-mapping software to do this which intercepts a specific command from the IR remote, but then sends a different command such as "16, 0, 0, 0" to the application that has focus. I actually use a Logitech universal remote and have programmed in a button called "Close" which will terminate the application that has focus no matter what it is including PowerDVD.

OK thanks again. I tried out LM Remote program but unfortunately the PowerDVD14 trial I was using has just expired so could not properly test it. Interestingly prior to the expiration I did launch PowerDVD14 from Media Center which brings it up in Cinema mode BUT in this form "Backbutton/backspace" do cause it to exit, (back to Media Center at least! Very strange that the same functionality is not included in the "regular" Cinema mode.

Anyone know if PowerDVD15 is any different?

BTW I will be using the LM Remote program to replace the aging and ever flakier Event Ghost which I use for something else, so all is not wasted. Joe

I have run into some difficulties with the LM Remote program, it does not action some of the (important) keys on my remote! I raised a thread in their forum and also sent an email to support but have no response from either. Anyone know if this program is still active? Joe

Yes it's still active.

I found the same thing recently when I got a new universal remote. Create a profile that has the Application Executable as "PowerDVD.exe" and you can customise to however you want.

Many thanks again for replying. I'm probably doing something wrong but some of the keys on my remote e.g. Pause, FF are not detected at all by the LM Remote program even though they work in MCE/WMP etc. and produce an HID code when viewed with "Live Trace, so I can't assign an action to them. Other keys work fine both HID and non HID codes e.g. Stop, Skip and number keys. My remote is listed in the release notes of an older version of the program as partially supported, but lacking a response from their support I don't know it it has ever been fully supported.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Joe

Are you using PowerDVD standalone of are you using it through Windows Media Center?

The problem is with standalone Cinema mode. From Media Center it also brings up Cimema mode but the back button works fine there. Joe

Well then I still think the solution to your problem is as I've stated. Create a profile for PowerDVD and it will actually prompt you if you want to download some online pre-configured ones. I chose not to, I chose to create a blank profile.

I created a profile for PowerDVD because the STOP button was not working with my remote. So after creating a profile for PowerDVD I only had to map the keyboard key 'S' to the stop button on my rmeote and wallah the stop button now works I didn't have to map any other keyboard keys to remote buttons because all other buttons work automatically for me. This means all other buttons work for me from the Default profile. I hope this helps.
