Oh boy, v2718 has a MAJOR problem with the MultiCam Designer!

Load any clips into the MCD. You can either highlight and add them from the media library or open up the MCD and add clips from there. Sync if you want, then record at least one segment from one clip. Switch clips as often as you want, then stop and hit the OK button.

You'll return to the main editor window and... nothing. No clips, no camera angle swaps, NOTHING!

I've tested it with my clips and even with 2 copies of boats.wmv on tracks 1 and 2. No matter what I do in the MCD, every time I hit OK, I'm returned to the editor with NOTHING showing from there!

If my timeline is blank to start with, it's blank afterward. If there are existing clips and edits in the timeline, they are still present after returning from the MCD but nothing that was worked on in the MCD has been added. As if to confirm that absolutely nothing was accomplished, the project status (path and name) at the top middle of the screen doesn't even add an asterisk (*)! Sometimes, PD will crash after it's closed as well.

Can someone else try this out and confirm? Also, can someone with v2711 test and confirm? I was only able to save a copy of 2718.

Meanwhile I will be going back to v2604 until the next beta

After reading lots of comments about this (I am not a "techy" person), I really don't know what you all are talking about, however what I can determine is that this patch sounds like it causes more problems than it resolves. I recently posted a lenghty request for help and was now browsing through the forum to see if I could gleen any insight into what might be going wrong with my PD 13.

I am begining to regret purchasing this product. If it is difficult for those of you with a better technical understanding of this software...or just "movie making in general", what on earth does Cyberlink think when they say it is for the casual user????

Yeah it has lots of "bells & whistles" but what good are they if you can't get them to work properly.

Ready to cry and tell my God daughter she will not get a graduation video like her cousins last year. Last year I still had XP used windows movie maker and had a wonderful product. Now on 8.1 the windows movie maker sucks. Cyberlink was to be my hero and has turned out to be my nightmare.

Just reporting from across the pond that MC Designer is working as well as it was before

Even with the beta patch 2711, it's syncing by audio accurately & delivering the recorded segments to the timeline as expected.

So - that throws a spanner in the works. It's not a universal issue.

And here we are with a slam dunk/no exceptions failure. Care to use the same downloader and give 2718 a try?

EDIT: I want make sure everyone knows that the MCD works normally when you're working in it. Syncing, recording, dragging edges, swapping clips, previewing all work perfectly. There isn't any hint of a problem until you exit and nothing shows up for all that work

No MCD for me either, 2718. Additionally, if you keep editing after a failed MCD session of putting the content in the timeline, several other features don't work. For example, the "Del" key will no longer remove content in the timeline if selected.

Wow Paul! Running 100%

I just popped in to report that after installing the 2718 patch, having previously applied 2711, MC Designer is in the same state initially reported by optodata. It does all the editing just fine, but leaves you with zip, zilch & zero in the main timeline.

The 2718 patch also kindly reset ALL my preferences again, as I expected.

Dafydd, I'm a little confused, I guess you couldn't find out the details if 2K/4K interlaced formats are supported and now CL is asking if it worked previously, now that appears odd.

In this link of release notes and follow up threads CL position relayed is that it supports i/p in both Kepler and Maxwell, again, that has not been true for higher resolutions on my Kepler or Maxwell cards. http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/40892.page#211198

In the offical 2307 patch release notes CL states "Supports hardware encoding with NVIDIA Kepler or newer graphics cards." nothing stating it's a partial support.

Ryan, please try reinstalling 2604, or even 2408. You can get both versions from the PD Software updates page.

If neither solve your problem, please uninstall PD13 then reinstall it using the orginal installation files. You shouldn't have to uninstall any of the content packs, but you probably should let PD uninstall SmartSound and QuickTime. When you reinstall, be sure to include SS and QT, then update to 2604 and you should be good.

Note you will probably have to reenter your license number when you reinstall.
