An HD file that's 4 minutes long is still many MB in size. If you have a slow upload speed, it will take hours to transfer. Be patient, and only send up 2 or 3 clips. Post the link whenever the upload is finished and give other forum members a chance to test them out.

Also, PD12 and PD13 are very different "under the hood," and sometimes issues come up like this. I'm sure we'll get it figured out !

No worries. As long as you had the crash when using those two clips, other people will either verify that the problem also occurs on their setups or find that everything works OK. EDIT: I should have added that no matter what we find, we'll be closer to the cause of the problem.

Don't bother zipping. Video files are already fully compressed!

EDIT:I trying again and change my setting for my computer never go to sleep.

Edit again My dropbox account only holds 2GB and one of my file is 2.41GB. Is there another way I could share this video file?

Sure. Here's a public link to my OneDrive folder. If you use Microsoft Office 2013/365 you get a free 1TB OneDrive account. EDIT: Click on the link to open the webpage, then click and drag your clips there to upload them.

What kind of video are you editing that is 2.4GB for just a few minutes? Is it 4k?

Thanks very much for posting your videos. I have downloaded them and put them in the MultiCam Designer and don't have any problems syncing or with recording/switching camera angles. I can save my results and go back to the main timeline, then reenter the MCD and make changes or do more recording without any problems. I recorded the camera angles all the way to the end, and still no crashes there or in the main timeline.

Maybe it would help if you pay close attention to the exact steps you take before the crash happens, and then do those same steps again to make sure that the problem is repeatable. That way I can do the exact same thing on my end rather than just making random edits.

Also, it looks like I would have lost the money I bet on an incompatible video format

JR, thank you for the recording of your crash. The video shows what's happening very clearly.

I had experienced similar crashes with PD12, and I'll have to go through the forum to remember what was going on and what we did to fix it. I won't be able to spend time on this until later this evening (PDT), so maybe you could search through the older threads looking for multicam crash and see what you can find.

P.S. Wow, a completely new (and modern) forum interface! Thanks Dafydd and Cyberlinkcool

I've looked carefully at your recording, and I duplicated everything step-by-step, but nothing unusual happened on my system.

There is something I saw in your video that I'd like you to look into. The incident actually happens when your Multicam Designer's frame counter reaches 02;51;17 and skips to the end (at 4:15 in your recording). At that point, whatever has happened as already mangled PD13's internal work area, and the program crash when you hit pause is a direct result of that data corruption.

What's puzzling me is that the Recording track suddenly jumps out to 04;43;08 but each of your media clips end where the recording marker (the white triangle) stopped, which is quite a bit earlier but I can't read the yellow numbers. Since your clips are each around 4:43 in length, I want to know why they show up so much shorter here, or why the red cursor ends up so far past the end of the clips.

Basically, can you get a screenshot? I'd like to see the actual numbers. Hold down the <Alt> key and press <Print Screen> to copy the image to your clipboard, then paste it into any photo editor and save/post it.

I'll search through the older posts now and see if I can find the thread I mentioned earlier.

I couldn't find anything that was relevent. Can you take a look at the following settings and tell me what they're set to?

Project frame rate: Settings (gear) | General "Timeline frame rate:"

Shadow file: Settings (gear) | General "Enable HD video processing"

Hardware Acceleration: Settings (gear) | Hardware acceleration "Enable OpenCL..." and "Enable hardware decoding"

Main timeline preview quality: Settings (gear) | Display "Preview quality:"

Does the problem go away or get worse if you change any of these settings?

JR Daoust, I'd try your editing steps again after creating the MC shadow files, do the shadow file creation inside MC. I think you might be successful then. 70+Mbps too much.

I checked mysetting and they are as follow:

Project frame rate: Settings (gear) | General Timeline frame rate: "24FPS"

Shadow file: Settings (gear) | General: "Enable HD video processing"

Hardware Acceleration: Settings (gear) | Hardware acceleration: "Enable hardware decoding"

Main timeline preview quality: Settings (gear) | Display "Preview quality: "High Preview Resolution"

"Enable OpenCL..." was not check on so I just add it tried the MC again and same thing happened.

Also I have attached the "Print Screen" of the MC when it whent to the end of clip.

Edit: Jeff I'm not sure what you mean by MC shadow files, do the shadow file creation inside MC. I think you might be successful then. 70+Mbps too much. I'm new with video creating, could you please explain it in less technical terms.thank you.

OK. From the screen shot, it's clear that the cursor ran way out past the end of your clips. I wasn't clear on whether the clips themselves ended up shorter, but now I can see that they're unchanged.

Please try setting the project frame rate to NTSC 30fps and test, then keep the frame rate there and disable shadow files and test again.

JL_JL may be on to something with the very high bit rate on your MOV clip. I'm going to produce it to half that rate, which is what a typical HD 1080p clip would be, and you can try that once I've uploaded it.

In the meantime, let me know about those two settings!

OK. Now my money is on success with a lower bit rate wink

I used FormatFactory (a free program) to convert your original 2.5GB/77Mbps .MOV clip to a 0.35GB/10Mbps MP4, and I also used PD13 to convert it to a 0.52GB/15Mbps MOV file. You can download and test both files from here.

If this works, you'll need to convert your existing MOV clips to a lower bitrate to get them to work in the MCD.

For the future, you should change the settings in your camera to get a bitrate closer to 30Mbps. It might be the next lower quality setting. Not only will your file sizes be much lower, you'll be able to record much longer on the same media and transferring and editing should be much quicker.

Your MOV clip has a video bitrate of 70+Mbps. Nothing wrong with that, it's just on the high side for PD and many PC systems for fluid playback, especially inside MC. When you create the shadow file in the MC editor, PD will create a lower resolution, 720x480 8Mbps (if NTSC) video bitrate which many systems can handle with easy. This only enhances the fluidity of the playback, your actual MC editing in the end will use the quality of the source video.

Yes, it will take time for these shadow files to generate, but in the end I'm guessing your MC editing experience should be enhanced.

The attached pic shows you how.

Please help!

Multicam doesn't work since my last windows update. I always sync by sound and it used to work until my computer windows update. Now it won't sync at all, it keeps pushing the second video until the end of the first one. Any advice ? Thanks- Jason
