Having difficulty with creating simple text (no effects) on plain black title page

Please forgive my question. I know, it's simple.

I am using PD7.

I am creating a plain black title page for a documentary. I'm having difficulty creating simple text, with no visual effects, on the title page. I get so far as to type my text the way I like it, but then when I play it back, it appears blurry. To test things, I've clicked on and off the "apply font face" and "apply shadow" buttons, thinking that might be the problem, but I'm having no luck. I'm stuck. Please help.

In Title Designer:
You might try removing the Borders. Borders are on the last Tab (in PD8, I do not have PD 7).

By removing the borders you get much closer to plain text.
You may want to uncheck "apply shadow".

Any 'enhancement' will make the text "fatter" and look fuzzy or blurry.
Of course a careful choice of the font face and font color makes the text stand out more.

Also the resolution of your final output file makes a difference.

Can you attach a picture of your screen so one can see what you see?

Basically one would:
1) Put a Black Color Board from the media library, drop down Color Boards selection into the timeline
2) In the Title Room, select "Default" title block as it has no features applied to it and drag to title track
3) Change the "Default" text to yours and most likely change color, it's a strange light purple by default

I tried that and it's invisible. I dragged the default onto track 2 above the video, then double clicked on it, changed the text clicked save, and I can't see any text.

Title goes below the track that contains the color board.
Put it on the TITLE track and you should be good.

Thank you but I was already doing that, turns out the problem is the program takes a minute or two to render the text, when I accidentally waited, it miraculously started working, so I hope others facing this problem see this and understand you just have to wait a little.

It's nearly instantaneous here. It's possible that your system is marginal for resource intensive video editing. Check this...

You might also update the video driver. If problems arise, roll back via Control Panel|DEVICE MGR|VIDEO ADAPTERS||DRIVERS tab.

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download (AMD)

http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect/graphics (Intel)

Check too that you are running the latest patch for your PD version. See the "sticky" at the top of this forum.
