How do I save project files to my documents

Just downloaded PD13 upgrade and noticed that the output and pack Project folders aren't there, but they're in PD12 . When I use "save as" to save the file, it wants to save it in cloud. Can some one explain if PD13 saves files differently and how do I get rid of cloud? I have my own cloud with Google.

Hi Buckles

The "Pack Project Materials..." option is there, and just like in PD12 it's under the File menu.

You don't need to save anything to CL's cloud and you're free to save your media and projects (packed or as discrete components) in any folder on your computer, including the ones you've set up for your Google Drive. The CL cloud seems to be geared more toward keeping various PD13 profiles and the like. It doesn't look like it's meant for projects or large media files.

For any future posts, it's a good idea to put something in the title that describes the problem or issue you'd like to discuss. A title of "PowerDirector 13" in the PD13 forum really doesn't tell people what you're looking for, but if you put in something like "CL Cloud questions" or "What happened to the Pack Project folders?" you'll let other people what kind of help you need AND encourage people who are interested to respond.

I have all my previous files in an output folder which is in PD12, if I move this folder to PD13 and uninstall PD12, will I be able access them when I try to open them in PD13?

Yes. None of your folders are "in" PD12 or PD13, those programs simply point to folders on your computer. If you mean you saved your projects in the same folder where PD12 is actually installed (C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDirector12\...), then you might want to copy them to another location before your uninstall PD12.

Note that you wouldn't normally have saved any projects there and it's a much better idea to store them on a separate drive if possible. Again, if they're stored in a typical location like C:\users\My Documents or something similar then you don't need to do anything other than to browse to that folder when opening a project in PD13.

Once you've installed PD13, just use the File|Open Project... menu and browse to whatever folder you used when you saved your projects in PD12 and they'll open up right away. If you choose to keep PD12 and PD13, please note that PD13 can read projects saved/created with PD12 but PD13 uses a different format and PD12 can't open any projects created or edited in PD13. Does that make sense?

Hi Buckles,
Please select "Edit" in your first post and amend/change the topic title from "PowerDirector 13" to one that reflects the content and the issue you have in the thread/first post.

Optodata has already advised you to change the topic title.

I'm confused by your terminologies. Are you saying that I should import a file into the library to "Edit" and then change the name power director 13 to what I want? What am I posting and where?

I have been saving my files under Cyberlink's, PD12, in a folder called OUTPUT. It takes too many clicks to access them. I would like to send all my files to a folder in documents. Is this possible or advisable?

Also Preferences> File> export and import use C://Users/buckles/documents/cyberlink/.... Can I change this location to what ever I want?

I've watch PD Toot's file management, but now I'm really confused.

Hi Buckles,
As you appeared totally confused I have made alterations to your first post* and I have shown you by providing three images of the actions you should have carried out. Giving a topic subject as "PowerDirector 13" in the PowerDirector 13 Forum isn't one that reflects the contents of your thread or your continued posts.

* I don't like altering editors contents or titles, I would expect an editor to make changes themselves where and when necessary.

I have read your latest post. Please go to Preferences and change the local address of where you want to Export your pds/project files to OR when you select "Save project as" (Ctrl+Shift+S) you search for the location manually. PDR13 will recall the last place you saved to.

Dafydd

Yes. It's going to be easier to save your projects to a folder like My Documents or My Videos.

Also Preferences> File> export and import use C://Users/buckles/documents/cyberlink/.... Can I change this location to what ever I want?

I've watch PD Toot's file management, but now I'm really confused.

You can also change the default location to My Documents or My Videos. PD13 is very flexible and will store or retrieve media and projects from wherever you want to put them. I hope this explains how to do that.

I have read this thread and on my PD13 menu there is a "Pack Project Materials " but it is greyed out. Only the Cloud section is available to pack and I do not wish to do this. I am unable to actually pack anything except to the cloud.

I do not have any other issues with the video etc files and storage o- nly how to pack a project materials and save to another HDD.

Thanks Brian

So what do I do?

Well, I have solved my problem - greyed out menu. I have closed the project. Restarted PD13 and created a new project, the menu is now available. I closed the new project and re-opened the old project and the menu is now available and I was able to pack to another HDD without any need to sign onto the Cloud.

Thanks for this forum.
