Inserting fades in Multicam without unsyncing audio

I've filmed some songs using two cameras, and using Multicam I've blended the two films together. But when I try to drop a transition (a plain fade) over the top of the join PowerDirector overlaps the videos and puts the audio out-of-sync. How do I insert fades without wrecking the syncing?

1. Insert a crossfade option (see Preferences/Editing) or
2. use the opacity fade in Modify/Fade/in/out or
3. then use one or two tracks layered to use fade in the track.

The image is a "quickie" and not that accurate - just to show you the basics of how to create a fade using opacity. Use your cursor to adjust the opacity of the fade.

Thanks, Dafydd. In actual fact I discovered soon after posting my query that under Preferences/Editing the default setting for 'Transition Behaviour' was 'overlap', and as soon as I changed it to 'cross' it solved the problem!

Cheers,

Here's another option... If Cross Fade works for you that's great, but it fades through black (or the video track above it), which doesn't work for me.

When I cross fade a track, I split all the tracks at the same point including the audio (I regularly use four camera tracks, all sync'd to the audio), then drag the right hand audio clip back... a key line will appear when it's lined up with the beginning of the fade in video clip... when you release it, you have the option to insert, over write or cross fade the audio. Select overwrite or cross fade, and that will keep the audio in sync with the video. (I also apply the same transition to the other camera tracks so they also stay in sync.)

Cheers.

18tillidie--I'm in the same boat...trying to add transitions (other than generic non-overlapping crossfades) while keeping video tracks 1 and 2 in sync. Problem is, I don't have video in every spot on track 2, so there's nothing to split on that track.

Is there a way to "link tracks" so that any change in the timeline on track 1 is replicated on track 2.
