Importing my photos from my PC Folder causes them to take on a new sort routine. I looked for a resort by date taken but don't see one. Anyone offer any help on either maintaiing import sort by date taken or resorting by date taken capability?

In PD. in the library room, see picture, is PD13, PD12 should be the same.

PlaySound....thanks for your quick feedback. I followed your script on my import. Unfortunately, the "date" functionality seems to be using the file "modified date" as the sort source when I compare the standard order of the files after import against the my original folder which is sorted by date taken. In fact, I tested one picture by changing the "date taken" date which also generated a new "modified date." On import, the picture went to the bottom of the file. It should have actually been at the top. I can see that I can do either ascending or descending. No selection capability to choose which date to use on the import routine. The lack of this feature means I would have to import one file at a time in order to get them in the "real date taken" order. With a large file, this would be a huge waste of time. Am I missing something or is the sort by date taken missing from the program?

This is sort of round a bout, but I think it should work.

Google offers a free, excellent program called Picasa.

With Picasa you can put your selected photos into an album. You can then sort them by date. Then, in Picasa, perform a "rename". The photos will be renamed with a number following. Export the photos in the album to a folder on your hard drive. Now they will always remain in that order.

Adding to that cuartetto showed.

In Windows Explorer, the folder with the photos clicks right in the empty area, opens a menu has two options Group by. and Sort By.

If serve, will organize your photos first, then import to PD.

Another option in PD:

In the library room, Create New Tag to group photos.

so we separate groups of photos, facilitates the work. AMD-FX 8350 / 8GB DDR3

Cuartetto/PlaySound...Thanks for the tips. I'm using Windows Explorer to sort by date taken. It does provide the exact display I'm looking for. Unfortunately, when I import into PD12, the sort is NOT retained and apparently PD12 doesn't provide a way to "rearrange" pics to retain that sort. Hope I'm missing something as I can't believe this product doesn't provide such capabilities.

One suggestion you have the photos organized in your explorer.

Then create New Tag. (Folder) in PD12 library, drag the group of photos for a new tag.

Repeat this process for other groups of photos.

So you have groups of photos that will add the timeline to your liking.

Another option is to make a video for each group of photos and end gather all videos.

See image how to create new tag.

The reason that Picasa works is that after sorting the pictures, you then rename them. They will have a name such as photo001, photo002 etc.

When renamed, you can then import them into PD and they will remain in the same order.

In Picasa if you manually sort the pictures in an album, then rename, the order will be retained.
