I just bought the PowerDVD 14 Ultra from Cyberlink and installed it in my computer. I was able to play standard DVDs and videos I previously created. However, I could not get this PowerDVD 14 software to play Blu-Ray movies. When I press on the play button of PowerDVD 14, it only shows a blank screen and freezes up. I also checked the Task Manager and it showed PowerDVD not responding. I dug into the stream folder of the Blu-Ray disc and clicked on the file (M2TS) and a display dialog box appeared with "PowerDVD does not support this file format". Additionally, I downloaded the Blu-ray and 3D Advisor software from Cyberlink to verify if my system is BD Ready. Every component in my system had a "PASS" rating. I have the following basic components in my system:
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM)i7 CPU 860 @2.80GHz
System Memory: 4096
Operating System: Windows 7 Premium (64 bits) Service Pack 1
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon HD 4850
Blu-Ray Disc Drive: ASUS BW-12D1S-U
Software Player: PowerDVD 14 Ultra
Video Connection Type: Digital(with HDCP)
Monitor: HP 2709M

I would appreciate any help that you can provide.
Thanks!

Hi Michael,

First, let me thank you for your response to my post.

I do want to make a correction. I actually purchased the PowerDVD 14 Ultra software from Amazon not Cyberlink.
I have pretty much followed your recommendation so allow me to reconstruct the following events that might be of assistance to users in this Forum:

First attempt:
• Installed latest PowerDVD 14 Ultra Patch that came with my software
• Downloaded and installed (Patch) Updates PowerDVD 14 to build 4412
• Downloaded and installed (Patch) Updates PowerDVD 14 to build 4704
• Ran PowerDVD 14 Ultra. Still unable to play any Blu-Ray Discs. It shows Blu-Ray disc is loading but screen freezes up.

Second Attempt:
• Uninstalled PowerDVD 14 Ultra
• Download Ccleaner free software and ran to successful completion
• Downloaded and Installed latest Windows Media Player
• Reinstalled PowerDVD 14 Ultra
• Installed latest PowerDVD 14 Ultra Patch that came with my software
• Downloaded and installed (Patch) Updates PowerDVD 14 to build 4412
• Downloaded and installed (Patch) Updates PowerDVD 14 to build 4704
• Downloaded BD Advisor to record before image of my system components.
• Ran DXDIAG to record log results of before image.
• Ran PowerDVD 14 Ultra. Still unable to play any Blu-Ray Discs. It shows Blu-Ray disc is loading but screen freezes up.
• Downloaded two Blu-Ray trial softwares from the Internet (different brand) and both softwares were able to recognize my Asus Blu-Ray Player and successfully played the Blu-Ray movies.

At this time, I was getting frustrated and disappointed. Had to repack PowerDVD 14 Ultra software for early morning mailing back to Amazon.

Third Attempt:
• Ran Windows Update and downloaded Microsoft recommended and optional latest updates.
• Downloaded latest driver of Graphics card ATI Radeon HD 4850
• Downloaded latest driver of my Realtek Audio Card
• Ran BDAdvisor after install of new drivers
• Ran DXDiag after install of new drivers
• Compared before and after log results of BDAdvisor and DXDIAG above to ensure that they were all fully recorded
• Ran Ccleaner one more time to successful completion
• Ran PowerDVD 14 Ultra. Wow! What a big difference! It’s working and I am so happy to watch every single Blu-Ray movie in my collection library.

This morning, I installed my newly purchased PowerDirector 13 video editing software. I have also created or produced my first video successfully using Power Director 13 Ultimate.

Michael, I would like to express my sincere thanks to you for responding to my post. Good luck to my fellow users in this Forum.
More power to you and Cyberlink!

Hmmm.
That's strange why the BD Advisor said you had an all pass for Blu-ray, according to this the bare minimum ATI card needed for Blu-ray is a 5000 series and at least a 6000 series for Blu-ray 3D.

I'm on a little laptop from HP and it's running an ATI 4200, which will not work with Blu-ray and yet the adviser said it's a pass, but in the "Advanced" screen it fails.
