How to get PD to point to different source files

I lost my whole project except the music, title and voice over. All the synced video files are missing from the timeline and the bin folder. I think PD is pointing to the wrong location. Is there a way to get it to look for the files on my desk top where all the files are located? Right now it's pointing to C:/Users/TW/Desktop/BHF AVI -- which is the name of the folder. The individual files within the folder are named C:/Users/TW/Desktop/Black Horr Film\BHF AVI. Can I get PD to look for the files with this 2nd address? How?

Hi 000Tyson -

From the other thread, it seems you've discovered the issue with moving or renaming files... that includes moving the containing folder to a different location/file path.

As stated in the other thread, when this happens PDR will prompt you to Browse for the files to point it to the correct location. Unfortunately, if you save the project without doing that - that's that. The project file will no longer look for the files you've ignored.

You can re-import the files from their modified location, but previous editing is lost.

As NonnyM posted in the other thread - http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/42298.page#218030 - making a working folder for your project or packing project materials will help avoid such issues.

Perhaps I've misunderstood. When you say "gone" do you mean the timeline has a series of black spaces & you're no longer prompted to Browse for the missing files?

Wow Tony I was was writing a reply to your message and something made me try the browsing search one last time. It worked!! I recovered my project. For some reason, PD isn't automatically pointing to the right folders but I did it manually and got everything back.

How do you make a working folder?

Excellent. I'm pleased you were able to recover your project.

One way to easily make a working folder, right now (because your project is already underway) is to Pack Project Materials - this makes a new folder with copies of all your timeline assets and the project file.
