Not smooth after encode?

Hi,

I noticed once i encode the original video file to mp4 or wmv in 1080 @ 25p. The encoded file doesn't seem as smooth? like the fps doesn't run as smooth if i compare it to the original video.

I have also set it to 25fps in options. Also i have tried it in both PD12 and 13 and keep getting the same result.

Does anyone know why this is? or how i can fix it? below are some info on the files.

Original File

Video: MPEG4 Video (H264) 1920x1080 25fps [Video - AVC (H.264), High Profile, Level 4.0, 1920x1080, 25.000 fps (1011,e0,00)]
Audio: Dolby AC3 48000Hz 6ch 448kbps [Audio - Dolby Digital, 48.0 kHz, 6 chn, 448.0 kbit/s (1100,fd,00)]
Subtitle [Subtitle - English, PGS (1200,bd,00)]

Encoded File WMV

Video: Windows Media Video 9 1920x1080 25fps 10000kbps [Raw Video 1]
Audio: WMA 2 44100Hz stereo 320kbps [Raw Audio 0]

Encoded File MP4

Video: MPEG4 Video (H264) 1920x1080 25fps [Video Media Handler - MPEG4 Video (H264) (eng)]
Audio: AAC 48000Hz stereo 256kbps [Sound Media Handler - MPEG-4 Audio (eng)]

Thanks!

Hi,

- just to let you know you're not alone.
I'm on my 2. day trying to get rid of bulges which occurs when applying keyframed vertical motion.
I've tried every setting I can think of- both in keyframing and production. Result the same.

Nina

Just something.

Karaarslan,
update to the latest official build.
http://www.cyberlink.com/support/powerdirector-ultra/patches_en_US.html
I also see a bunch of drives that are nearly full, really full, where are your video files being kept for editing?
They should be on an internal drive, not usb.
If you are using shadow files, disable the function and delete the generated shadow (proxy) files.
If you are using hardware acceleration, un-tick it, it can cause anomalies and poor playback performance sometimes.
Let us know how it goes.

Ok i just noticed something strange.

If i select "intelligent SVRT" to encode, it selects H.264 AVC, m2ts with the profile

AVC 19200 X 1080/50i (24mbps)

Why would it select 50i? anyway if i encode it like this, it some how ends up with 25fps and the video looks perfect.

The only problem is i don't want 24mbps. I want around 10mbps and also mp4 not m2ts.

i-SVRT attempts to find the best closest format to reduce re-encoding.
As for frame-rate, what camera are you using?
Also, you can customize most of the render profiles by clicking on the little + next to the profile encode drop-down menu.
Please note you cannot alter WMV profiles from within PD. It takes an act of God to make a new WMV profile, and WMV Media Encoder, a multi-purpose software (free).
Personally I find WMV nearly obsolete and never use it. What is the final destination of your video masterpiece? Disc? Stream? Youtube? HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

If it were me, would create a profile based on this made by SVRT, only lowering the bitrate, there will be losses due to recoding and reducing the bitrate, I think is less worse. AMD-FX 8350 / 8GB DDR3

Hello guys

Thanks for trying to help but i seriously can't figure out why it looks jerky and not as smooth as original source.

I updated to the latest version of PD. The disk that has the video files and where i save the files has around 100gb empty. I tried turning hardware acceleration off and no difference.

I am not completely sure what camera as i wasn't the one filming it. I do know it is a sony camera and recorded in AVCHD format. The video will be a direct download on a website and lower quality as a stream.

As i mentioned since i-SVRT selects the profile AVC 19200 X 1080/50i (24mbps) and if i encode it with this profile, all works perfect. The problem is i don't want to encode it as m2ts file but mp4 but when i select h.264 and change it to mp4 format, there is no profile with 50i.

I did some research and they say 50i, 25i and 25fps are pretty much the samething or very similar. Anyway if i do encode it with a 25fps profile, it just looks jerky for some reason. Maybe i can make a custom profile and add 50i profile for mp4 or something?

If someone wants to take a look. I have uploaded the original and my encoded version but can only share it via PM, as i don't want to make the clips public.

You will upload this video to Youtube /
If so use the best quality (SVRT profile) Youtube will do the conversion for various sizes also lower the bitrate, I think that's what you want. AMD-FX 8350 / 8GB DDR3

I won't upload this video to youtube. It is more business related. That is why i must get it encoded to mp4.

Perhaps you could produce the project in the profile that works smoothly, then use that new file as stock and re-encode (produce) in the format you desire. Any loss in quality might be very minor. Making your own profile may also be useful. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

Would like for you to post the mediainfo for the original and for the encoded (produced) files. Something just don't look right in your first post. Is the original from a tv tuner app or or cable box recording, or camcorder ? mp4 to me is progressive for pc viewing yet you tell us PD sees it as interlaced. Your original audio may be dd5.1 and yet you get 2 channel stereo for your encoded files. That is all okay to you I guess.

Hi tomasc,

It is from a camcorder and it is a m2ts file not mp4. I actually got it to work. I encoded it to 50fps and seems like it looks nice now, maybe the image quality doesn't look as sharp but at least it looks smooth now, but it is really strange and doesn't make sense to me, why a 25fps video would run smooth at 50fps?

below are details of original video file.

Thanks for the mediainfo on the original m2ts file. It looks like you have a Sony consumer pal camcorder in which you have chosen to record in 1920x1080i/25fps(24Mbps) avchd mode and dd5.1 for audio. You want your output to be mpeg-4 1920x1080i/25fps(9Mbps) and dd 2 ch.(stereo). This is going from an original interlaced video to a produced progressive video at a much lower bit rate. Expect to see mice teeth effects on the produced video and poor quality on fast motions. I see it all the time on youtube.

Try shooting with 1080p50 (28Mbps) mode with dd 2ch. the next time. Sony cams allows all that. You can then easily produce mp4 at a lower bit rate without the artifacts. You would then create a custom profile to produce it.

To fix your present videos. Go ahead and edit and then produce it using svrt. Deinterlace it and convert it to mp4 at your desired lower bit rate using different software such as handbrake.

Hi Tomasc,

You may be right. I am going to try your method, although what is the down side to my 50fps encode? It looks fine like this and audio is in sync.
