I just purchased an upgrade, can I uninstall my previous version?

I just purchased an upgrade from PD 11 to PD 13. I noticed it has its own serial number. Is it a full installation? I'd like to remove my old version of PD to save disc space. Can I just remove PD 11 and install PD 13 or will it look for the PD 11 installation when it tries to install PD 13?
