CPU upgrade
[Post New]
Can anyone tell me if PD12 Ultimate supports an AMD FX8350 and if it does would it give me anymore advantage over a AMD PhenomII 945?

Thanks, Jerry

yes and yes in my opinion. See this link if you are still not convinced: http://www.overclock.net/t/1325616/help-with-upgrade-fx-8350-vs-phenom-ii-945/20

Thanks for the info Tomasc. I checked out the link that you sent me. Very, very interesting. But most of the threads there were from gamers. I'm more interested in how this CPU performs for videos. There is a difference.
I'm sure the 8350 would be great, but I would like to hear from someone who actually is using one in PD12, 13 etc.
Thanks again for your help. Jerry

Yes, the new CPU reduces to less than half the time of rendering video and audio, but not everything improves as we would like, the question of the slow process with editing on the timeline improved little in my opinion.
Consider that the new CPU requires new Motherboard AMD-FX 8350 / 8GB DDR3
SSD SUV400S37240G / 2-HD WD 1TB
AMD Radeon R9 270 / AOC M2470SWD
Windows 7-64 / PD16 Ultimate

PowerDirector can use as many cores as you have. So yes you will see an improvement.
Bear in mind that, for video editing, Intel CPU's are generally more efficient. Example I have an older 6 cores/12 threads Intel CPU (i7 first gen) that benchmarks slightly better than the AMD FX-8350 8 cores/8threads - and an i5 forth gen (only 4cores/4threads) performs as good as them.
