I like dozens of others have this file corrupt message every time ( 4x now ) I re-download and try to install Power Director 7. Cyberlink have been very good at responding to my requests for assistance, however, unfortunately even though I have followed their advice exactly, I still have the same problem and am getting to the stage where I am going to give up.
Has this issue been resolved yet and what should I do to make this program install?

Any help or advice would be welcome.

Kevin, thank you for the follow up and the posting.
I have just downloaded PD7 and had no problems at all. The file itself isn't the issue but what happens to it when you try to get the exe onto your PC and what happens to it when it's on your PC.

1. I'd like you to download a 30 day use program called WinRAR, this is the program used to compress PD into a deliverable download file. Install the software - it's a compression/decompress software like a zip program.

2. I'd then like you to right click on the downloaded PDr7xxxxxxxxxx.exe file and select Extract to PDrxxxxxxxx/ This will create a folder with ALL the programs installation contents.

3. Now go to that folder and locate SetUp.exe and double click on it to install PowerDirector 7.

The process I have tried to describe should remove the need to use any temporary location on your PC which would or might contain a corrupt or corrupting file.

Now if the corruption is taking plave because of a firewall setting or an anti-virus setting then you need to evaluate whether to make changes in those.

I hope the information helps and applying or making changes to your PC are at your own risk.

Dafydd

Dear Dafydd,
I know it has been a while but basically I had given up on trying to install PD 7 after the PD7 installation file is corrupt episode.

As you may recall I had had considerable problems trying to install PowerDirector 7 and constantly getting the error message saying the installation was corrupt, I then wrote to the forum ( and yourself ) which gave me some ideas as to how to resolve the issue. Having used up all suggestions time and again and deleting everything according to your and Cyberlink's instructions, I then attempted to install the programme on my wife's computer...and amazingly it worked!

Therefore the problem had to be with my machine and the fact that I originally ran PowerDirector 6. Clearly there were bits left over and installing and reinstalling PD7 on so many occasions had done little to help! What I ended up doing was this:
I entered the registry after using the cleanup tool ( which revealed nothing ) and looked for every single reference to Cyberlink; after deleting the suggested CB0998xxxxx files...I then looked for every single reference to Cyberlink and deleted it; this took for ever as each time I kept finding other references. I then rebooted the computer and tried again and then found some more references to Cyberlink. I did this on 4 occasions until all that remained was a reference that it would not allow me to delete no matter what I tried. Something to do with Rich video....so I gave up and had a go at installing the PD7 again.....I was ecstatic the whole thing installed properly..no error messages and it even then asked me when I had opened the programme whether I wanted to install the update patch!!!!

May I suggest that if anyone else has this problem that they spend 2 hours as I did deleting every conceivable reference to Cyberlink from the registry!

Yours ( and a bit happier now )

Or run Wise Registry Cleaner after uninstalling PD.

Dear Bif,

Thank you for that...what a cool programme. If only someone had told me about it before.............

.....things are certainly a bit slicker now.
