Hi... Just purchased PD 13 and am wondering why when I add a video clip to the timeline and then trim it... it causes a gap or "skip" in the song I added to the timeline. Please tell me how I can fix this or avoid this from happening. Thanks!

Walk us through all the steps you are taking, in the precise order. That might help someone figure out the problem.

Ok... I'll do my best... I add a song to my timeline.... then lock it. I then begin adding photos and videos. The videos are of our family's vacation and so most of them need to be trimmed. I place them on the timeline, hit trim... trim it and then it ok.... and then when I playback the timeline... the song cuts out for a moment on the timeline. Almost as if the video track I placed skipped the song in my timeline. I am sorry... I don't know better how to explain this.

Doing what you describe, I am unable to replicate your problem.

I'm guessing the reason you're putting the song on first is so that you can cut your video down to match the length of the song. Another way you could do it is to make note of the length of the song, and then assemble your video first, adding the song only after your video is the proper length.

Also, and I don't know if this would fix your problem, but have you tried cutting your clips using the split function instead of trim? It's how I always do it.

Kevin

First, if you "just purchased" it, did you patch to the latest build (2307)... http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/41114.page

Also,

Have you tried not locking the music track?

I always add music first so I can match the video/images/transitions to the music and I've never locked the track. Sometimes I trim and sometimes I split. Never had a problem with the music. CyberPowerPC | Win7HP-64 | AMD FX-8320 3.5 Ghz | 8GB Mem | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB | WEI 5.9

Hi again... I lock the music because in the past if I didn't lock it... it sometimes messed up or cut along with another track I was moving... probably due to my inexperience?... I add the song first also because I match the images and videos to it. I did download the patch however I am not sure if It was installed onto my PD program... the shortcut is on my desktop.

Now I have never tried to split the video... I have always used trim.perhaps I will look into learning how to do that and maybe that will resolve this problem.

Now I originally began this project on PD9 and then purchased PD13 and opened the PDS file with 13 and just continued the project. Maybe something there causing a glitch?

Also... I am thinking I need to upgrade my computer... keeps freezing up when I try to watch the videos placed on timeline.

Can't wait 'til I know more of what I am doing!! Thanks guys!

Click on the "?" in the upper right hand corner of your PD13 screen. Then choose the last item in the drop-down list, "About Cyberlink Power Director". When I do that, I get a box that shows on the first line my version of PD12 and the annotation 12.0.3403.0. This means it is using patch version 3403. If you do the same for your PD13, it should show version 2307, if you have installed it. Regards,
Dan

Thank you! It says that I am using the patch version! I ended up having to uninstall and reinstall PD13 because it crashed and would no longer work and when I did that it prompted me to upgrade and I think the patch was installed then. Thanks so much!!

I think your problem is not with the audio, some cut in the video, effect mainly applied scrool text can give stumbling in the audio when this monitoring in the timeline preview.
Even my PC that makes it very robust.
