New Laptop for Power Director 13 - Please Help

Hi all,

I'm about to buy a new laptop. The one I have currently has a HP, with a video card: Intel HD Graphics 4400, which is integrated into the Motherboard. Because of this, (at least, I think this is the issue) Power Director is very hard to use on this HP Laptop. I can complete projects, but they take FOREVER.

So...I've found a Dell Inspiron 7000 Series, that has it's own Independent Video Card, a: NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 750M 2GB GDDR5. The laptop also has a 1T Hard drive, and a i7 Processor.

In your opinion, will this new Dell that I've picked out be better to operate PD13 on it?

Please help!! I would appreciate all feedback.

Thanks!

Don't.
Get a desktop for the same money, it will be way better at video editing and allows for future upgrades.

I appreciate the input, but that Desktop is over $2k. I am trying to keep this new purchase around $1k, which, (I think) I have found.

Just trying to get opinions on this purchase that I'm considering...

Given the status on this particular Laptop,

1TB Hard drive
Independent Video Card ( NVIDIA GeForce® GT 750M 2GB GDDR5 )
i7 Processor
8GB Ram

I would hate to shell out $1k and it not work very well with Power Director.

I have a Dell XPS 15, with the same graphics card (and also intel graphics too), processor, but 16GB of RAM.

PowerDirector runs like a dog on it.

Not sure what the fault is, as it runs fine on a Samsung i5, with Intel graphics....!

Even if I run PD and tell the Dell to use the intel graphics, it still runs badly, so ....

..and my Dell cost £1,600!

Your mind is already made up that you want a laptop for about 600. It will be fine for SD and 1280x720 videos. SoNic67 is right about a desktop would be more powerful for the same price. A good pc is out of your budget now.

My mind isn't made up - however I have done research and that is what I gave come up with so far, and it's not $600. That laptop with discounts is $1,028.

Yes the laptop would be better. Just found out I7 on a notebook pc could mean a dual core processor on a Dell : http://www.quill.com/laptop-computers/cbs/50803319.html?cm_mmc=CSE_AMZ_50803319 . It must work well.
