Re:Aspect Ratio - Resizing in Preview [Unresolved Question]
[Post New]
Quote: That's great PlaySound!

So now - all I have to do is...

1. Click Keyframe
2. Click Maintain Aspect Ratio*
3. Close the keyframe window
4. Resize the object

* I wonder who thought of defaulting Aspect Ratio to OFF?

I may as well do it in PiP Designer.

I don't mean to sound ungrateful for your suggestion. It does allow me to resize in Preview. Thank you.

Cheers - Tony

I think the default is Maintain Aspect Ratio.

I don't know how it was disabled here.

I investigated to find this detail.

AHA!

PlaySound - you're a whizz! (and I feel a bit silly)

The Maintain Aspect Ratio under Keyframe > Clip Attributes doesn't default to "OFF". It just recalls your last setting (even when you open a new project).

So - you pointing that out has resolved my (non-existent) problem. Thanks!

PlaySound's suggestion about the Keyframe > Clip Attributes > Maintain Aspect Ratio check box raises a further question.

Here - once I uncheck the Maintain Aspect Ratio check box. it remains unchecked for all media & for all projects. That doesn't make sense to me at all! If it's under Clip Attributes, it should apply only to the particular clip/image. The way it's behaving here, that Aspect Ratio check box should be in Preferences!

PDR 12 & previous versions didn't do this - they didn't have that option in Keyframe > Clip Attributes.

I'd appreciate it if members could replicate the scenario shown in the screen capture & report whether or not the same thing applies.

Cheers - Tony

Hi, Tony,

I confirm this too.... And, as Neil writes, it was not the same in previous versions.

And I agree with you, it should be in the preferencies. Jean-Paul

It seems to be working correctly for me...

I placed two clips in the timeline.

For the first clip, I resized and it maintained the AR. I then unchecked MAR and resizing responded as expected.

For the second clip, MAR was checked.

Back to the first, MAR was unchecked.

Does this help at all? CyberPowerPC | Win7HP-64 | AMD FX-8320 3.5 Ghz | 8GB Mem | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB | WEI 5.9

Hi Joe -

Yes - all information helps, even though it's inconsistent with other reports.

That may indicate that the MAR settings glitch is triggered by some other *setting, but I wouldn't have a clue where to start.

Thank you all for testing it & reporting back.

Cheers - Tony

* Remember the previous error with snapshots if "confirm snapshot file name" wasn't checked in Preferences?

I just settled Beta update in 2319, again Maintain Aspect Ratio box unchecked.

I think it was the update, can someone confirm this?

Not a problem, just to see if I'm failing here. AMD-FX 8350 / 8GB DDR3

Hi PlaySound -

With the 2319 (beta) patch installed, after unchecking the MAR button for any clip, the Keyframe > Clip Attributes > Maintain Aspect Ratio check box remains unchecked for ALL media & ALL projects, as has been confirmed repeatedly here.

So - the glitch is still present. Confirmed.

That's as expected, because this patch wasn't designed to correct the problem. The CL R&D team may not even be aware of it yet.

Cheers - Tony
