When I select Pack Project Materials will the program gather all media and save with the pds file? Or do I have to do the gathering?

Not sure how it works.

Yes and no. Best practices are to make a copy of your assets in a new project folder and work from there. Then you can easily use Pack Project to automatically store all the assets you have used into a project folder.
