Audio Files not playing in Timeline/Preview

I'm using PowerDirector 12, 32-bit version. PowerDirector Ultra 12.0.2930.0

The problem I am having is with voiceover clips. I have imported the .WAV files into my media library and tried inserting them in all of the audio channels without getting a different result. The files play in the editing window, but not in the preview/timeline window. I need them to play so I can sync up the other media to the voiceover.

I've tried using Cyberlink's Wave Editor to re-save the .WAV files and bring them back into the project. This has yielded no difference.

I have also closed the project and re-opened adding the audio back, it made no difference. I have also opened a brand new project and dropped only the voiceover .WAV file in and it still will not play in the timeline/preview mode.

I have attached a screen shot showing the timeline/preview area which shows the audio clip inserted. I appreciate any help that can fix this issue.

Voice over and Smart Sound audio files can only be placed in the Voice track or the Music track.

You can still sync the audio with the video, same technique applies, move the audio file along the audio track.

I'm sure you looked at the volume.

Why didn't you just use the narration/voice over in the program? .

I didn't use the voiceover part of the program because the recording quality sucked. So I recorded it at home on my laptop and used Audacity to edit the .WAV appropriately.

Also, I've placed the .WAV files in the Voice track and it still doesn't play in the timeline preview.

I don't see any reason why a .WAV file doesn't play in any of the audio tracks as the user guide clearly states you can put it in any of the tracks you want to.

I don't care which track it needs to go in, of course, I just need it to play during the preview. Is there a way to fix this issue?

Thank you for your help!

I have placed all the .WAV files in the track you indicated and it does not make any difference.

I have checked my speakers and headphones and both play all other sounds from my computer except this.

THank you for clarifying where the audio should go. Do you have any other suggestion as to why it isn't playing?

I made an assumption that you had recorded the voice over audio in PowerDirector.

WAV audio files from outside sources should play in any audio track in Powerdirector.

That leaves the encoding of your WAV files.

There is a free utility that shows the information about media files, how and what they are made of.

MediaInfo:
http://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo

Use MediaInfo and them attach a TEXT file of one of your misbehaving audio files.

If you have one of the audio files that is not very large, you can attach it to the forum, then we can check if it plays on our system.
5 to 30 seconds would be plenty.

MediaInfo looks OK.

Can you attach a sample (that file would be great)?

I have the same result. If I increase the volume, I get a clear audio. BTW, I just came back from the dentist so that the audio snippet was coincidental ! .

I can hear the audio files in the trim/edit window (like your screen capture), and it's fine. It's just not playing in the preview/timeline area. Does it play there for you?

Thank you for your help!!

Yes, if I understand what you are saying.

Just to make sure, are your Windows audio settings enabled and volume up? .

Yes he is playing on the timeline.
Adjusted the volume to maximum, Rescued in produce, I added this in the timeline, open in in WevEditor adjusted maximum boost and obtained a volume average to good. AMD-FX 8350 / 8GB DDR3

Thank you to all! For some reason the .WAV file has to be place in the voiceover channel even though the file type allows me to place it in any of the audio channels on the timeline.

I did as suggested and boosted the volume of all fo the .WAV files using the WAV Editor and placed them back in the first audio channel. The file wouldn't work - I may have a setting that's off somewhere because the program wouldn't allow me to increase the volume on the file in that channel. However, when I moved it down to the voice channel, it allowed me to increase/edit the volume.

Since I already boosted the sound through the WAV Editor, I didn't need to bump it up even more but now it could be heard.

Thank you, again, to everyone who helped me figure out the issue. I really REALLY appreciate your time!

I got the same result as the other editors.

I put that audio file in Audacity (Free Audio Editor), the sound level was very low, I then used the Amplify function and boosted the level by 26.1 DB. Exported the edited file as WAV (changed the file name).

I then Imported that edited WAV into PowerDirector. It does play in any audio track in Powerdirector 12.
As it should.

Attached the edited Wav file.

You can do the same to the rest of your audio files by using Effect > Amplify function In Audacity, then exporting the edited WAV as a WAV (Change the file name so you do not over write your original file.

Even though this is an old thread, I had the same issue. There is a speaker/volume button right under the preview window. Why mine was all the way down, I dont know. Raised up that speaker and it worked.

This is for those like me who read this entire thread and missed it. Do it.
