Blank Screen With Sound On Blu Ray Play Back, Windows 8.1

Whenever I play a blu ray disk I only get a black screen (in windowed mode or full screen). The sound still plays, and I can skip intros etc., but I get no picture. If I play non-blu ray content then there's no issue. This is on Windows 8.1.

I had the same issue with PowerDVD 13, which is why I upgraded to 14 (which I won't stick with if this continues). Any suggestions?

I thought it might be a driver issue, but I updated the ATI drivers for the 3300 on board graphics, still with no luck. This machine played blu rays under Windows 7, but not Windows 8 by the looks. I've done a lot of Googling and can't find an answer.

The connection is via HDMI.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
the ATI card you use is not compatible with Windows 8.1 and Blu-ray playback.

Thanks for the response.

I find that quite disappointing, but the fault doesn't lie with CyberLink.

I have a new AMD card and have something like this too.

There seems to be an issue with 13 and 14 regarding HDCCP. I have 12 and it plays everything as it should and always has but you’ll see a few post about 14 crashing or giving a black screen when trying to start a Blu-Ray. On my LCD computer screen I get a black screen with audio but with only the TV connected most movies play as they should but there are a few that simple cause 14 to go back to the main screen and not being able to try any others after that.

Again, PowerDVD 12 on the same PC plays all movies as it should.

I have an AMD 290 video card and Windows 7.
