Bright Pixels when doing Color Adjustment
[Post New]
Hi guys,

This is really frustrating...in my captured videos the background is black (black stage curtains), and when I adjust the foreground for exposure, brightness etc - the whole black area fills up with seventies colors pixels. I tried still producing the vids, but the colored pixels remain.

Did anyone have the same issue? How can I solve this?

Thanks a bunch!

The pixels appear because you have adjusted the lighting. Sub-par video equipment suffers worst under poor lighting conditions, and when you lighten 'em up, adjust exposure, those dark areas just do not hold up well. Do you have a 10+- second clip, directly from the camera, not processed at all, that you can upload?
It's possible that ColorDirector will do a better job than PowerDirector at keeping the blacks BLACK. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

Actually the video is one that I want to "save", because the quality is so bad...its a performance video.
My computer is not powerful enough to easily process HD files. So when I only need to upload a video to youtube, I convert the files to mpeg before working with them. I tried other videos, and it seems that they all become weirdly colored if I try to brighten them up or other. So is it the software?

Thank you!

I work with Sony Full HD 1080 (1920x1080 HD 10.2 Megapixel)

playsound, your video illustrates exactly the problem I am having. Only mine does it way worse.
Even when I moderate there are tiny sparkles in the produced video.
I tried Lighting adjustment and it helps. But of course limited. Thank you for this!

Honestly, I just want to be able to adjust the little things like hue, saturation etc and I do not want to spend an extra $130 on Color Director for this...

Might there be a simple solution in the PD itself?

Thank you!

Hi

Download the trial of ColorDirector and test it out - it's free

I think that the basic features in PD itself should allow me to adjust brightness exposure etc. Its not very nice if I cannot. Youtube can, why not PD? Solution should be in fixing a bug, not in offering me to buy another software. These are really basic features.

Thank you for your advice,
and I really hope to be able to do these things inside the program soon. Message to the developers.

Thank you.

I do not believe this is a bug. I've never had a poorly lit (back-lighting) scene come out perfect. You do what you can, and move on. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

Barry and Neil - watch Playsounds video it explains it very well.

Playsound excellent video showing the problem being experienced ! Does this happen on all your vid. clips no matter what format they are?

Marina, I tried to reproduce the pixelated colors using different format clips such as .mt2s, mp4, mov, wmv, even a still png - but no luck getting the pixelation you both are experiencing. I did not have an mpeg2 video clip to experiment on.

It might be the specific mpeg2 video you are trying to brighten and / or your video card. What video card do you have?

Also what version of PD are you using? I am using the latest beta patch v2923 (there is an official patch out right now v2930 - but I have not installed that yet.)

If you or Playsound would like to attach a 5 - 10 second video clip of your trouble file for us to play with and see if we can reproduce the issue on our different computer hardware then that would help to narrow things down a bit.

I see the issue, that is not the pixelation I expect from adjusting brightness/exposure.
Try enabling/disabling hardware acceleration, see if it changes anything.
As RobAC asked, a sample would be helpful.

Hi Marina et al -

Like Rob, I've been unable to replicate the issue described by you and shown by playsound... even using captured SD clips, no adjustment I made resulted in any pixelation. That narrows it down to something about your system (and playsound's)

Hi Rob

I did watch and tried to replicate with various file types from JPEGs to MPEGs to AVCHDs but I could not replicate the 'flashing pixelated lights that Marina and Playsound are experiencing.

Methinks it's a Hardware Enabled or Graphic Card issue.

No sense in posting a sample, with any video and pictures, I only posted the video because he had others with the same problem.
Adjusting Saturation and Lighting works normal.
Curious that in PD10 in spite of having less adjustment works perfect. AMD-FX 8350 / 8GB DDR3

Hi guys,

Thank you so much for all these comments!
I am using the latest PD 12 now. It has been happening with PD 11 as well. It is possible that its the system hm...I will make a little video to show what's happening with m2ts and mpeg2 file types today.

I will try to play with hardware acceleration. will repost.

Thanks a bunch!

Tried WMV and AVCHD (m2ts) files. Same results.
Here is a video:

How can I turn off Hardware acceleration? Couldn't find it anywhere :S
