I have watched umpteen tutorials and can see what can be done but either the cursor is too fast or my brain is too slow.
I cannot grasp whether to use "modify" or "keyframe" to establish a pattern of movement. eg: I have an image from a genealogy file that shows four generations. I want to have a zoom in of generation A then slowly zoom out to B then C then D.
For some reason I cannot get my head around the use of scale, and motion. Is there a tutorial that can help me? Bunkerbaz

Hi Baz -

Scanning & zooming over the chart can be done in either Magic Motion or PiP Designer, using keyframes as you say.

The steps you'd take to get the effect you want depend a fair bit on the layout of the chart. Is is landscape or portrait? If you can attach your chart here, members could assist better.

Unless it's a very high resolution chart, too much zooming (e.g. on Generation I) might not look too clean on screen.

Attached are a couple of examples. They don't look much good because it's a low-res WMV.

Cheers - Tony

That is pretty much what I want to do but in a simpler manner. In fact it is for a video I am doing for my brother's 80th Birthday, not as professional as the one you did for your Dad.!! The section of the chart is in landscape I will attach a copy. I tried the user-defined method in Magic motion but could not find a way. Then tried PIP Designer with the same result. I know it can be done so meanwhile I will take another look at the "Keyframes and PIP Motion designer" Toot.

Thanks again Tony.

Hi Baz -

Thanks for your kind comment. Flattery will get you everywhere!

Here's a "raw" screen capture - no titles, no bells, no whistles, no nothing - of how to easily achieve what you're after in Magic Motion (a much simpler process than in PiP Designer. which has far more flexibility).

If you follow the process of:
1. Set first keyframe (where you want it to start)
2. Set last keyframe (where you want it to finish)
3. Add duplicate keyframes (where you want it to pause)
you can't go too far wrong.

Hopefully the clicks & cursors are moving at an understandable pace for you. Watching it in YouTube will give you a clearer view.

Cheers - Tony
