i just purchased pd7 based on all those testimonials praising pd as the best video capture and editing software.. anyway, my videocam is an old one.. the ones that still saves the videos it captures in tape.. sony dcr trv 350.. my problem is after i've captured and saved the videos to my harddrive, the videos i get are pixelated.. i had one video transfered in a store and the videos are great.. maybe there are still settings that needs tweaking out but if somebody could give me a crash course about this one, it would be greatly appreciated..

answers anyone?

Post a short sample of that "pixelated" video somewhere so we can see what you're getting.

Also it would help if you would list your computer specs and describe how you're capturing.

You'll find folks eager to help but more details are needed.

here's my computer specs.. intel core 2 duo e4500 (2.2Ghz), 2gb of ram and 256 nvidia geforce video card.. and asus p5s-mx se motherboard if that is also needed (which i doubt) lol.. by the way, how do you upload videos in this forum? or do i need to upload it to like youtube?

Go to http://seemyworldonvideo.com and "join", it's a place for Cyberlink users to upload and share video. Since you can also delete yours it would be a good place to put a sample of what you are asking for help on up where we can see it.

Keep it small and when you get the comments you need on it you can delete it.

But as you finish projects, you can put those up for folks to see.

Also check out "Extras For Editors" at the bottom of the SMWOV home page. A lot of free programs and resources there.

Hi Jay,

Where do you see the pixelation problem?, is it in the preview screen after you have placed your clips in the timeline, or is it in the media viewer?

Cyberlink deliberately down grade the quality in the preview screen and your video card could be making that worse. I have a Nvidia 256mb GeForceGo video card and get very bad pixelation in the preview screen, but in the media viewer the quality is exellent, as is the completed project.

If your problem is with completed projects, then follow the advice given by Bif.

hi! just joined smwov but when i upload the video, i receive an error.. it says, "You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 's the video', keywords='pixelated', channels='25', type='public', user='' at line 4" [b] the video is just 5mb so i believe the video size is not the problem.

Hi Jay,

When you fill in the description for your video on SMWOV keep it down to one or two words only, then after uploading you can edit the description.

The error you are getting is because your description is too long and its throws a tantrum.

Hmmm, not good . Can you let us know exactly how you captured and/or processed your video, which settings and steps you used, which capture or production file types etc etc

Cheers

It doesn't look like pixelization to me but rather quite low resolution video. He says had had a tape from his camcorder captured in a store and it turned out OK.

I would maybe suspect that while his cam records fine it may not playback that well.

Jay: When you view your captured file with something like Windows Media Player how does it look?

I agree with Bif, it looks like a resolution problem, if captured inside a store there may not have been sufficient light which would cause the low resolution, look at the Fijian dancing videos on SMWOV, these suffer the same problem, taken at night.
