Power Director 12 - How to load content pack? (Essential Pack and Premium Pack)

I bought Power Director 12 Ultimate yesterday online and downloaded all the files, then, other than using the default installation path, I used my own C:/cyberlink/

1. installed the Power Director 12 to C:/cyberlink/
2. installed the essential pack to C:/cyberlink/
3. installed the premium pack to C:/cybelink/

4. I haven't install the rest content pack such as wedding, travel pack etc...

The problem now is, after I launch the Power Director 12, I do not see the essential and premium packs are installed. When I click on the PowerDirector icon on the top, Upgrade--> Installed Pack, it is empty there. When I check the Windows controll panel, both packs were installed successfully.

My question is, how to load these packs? It seems the Power Director does not even know these packs are installed already, so nothing from these packs are loaded into the tool.

Please help!! Thanks.

No, when I check F5, F6 and F7, all of them have about 50 or less effects there. I do not think these packs are loaded successfully. Each pack is about 1GB of data. I do not see any addon are from these packs.

Please help. Thanks.

Hi BayFish -

Here, what appears in Control Panel > Programs & Features is totally dependent on how PD was installed. Content packs installed as part of Director Suite are not listed in Programs & Features, yet if installed as part of PowerDirector Ultimate Suite (which is the same thing without PhotoDirector), Content Pack Premium is listed.

Two ways to check which Content Packs have been installed correctly:
1. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\CyberLink\templates\PowerDirector Content Pack 12 - the two content pack folders should be there
2. Count the numbers of templates installed in the libraries (not including custom & downloaded) - even that's not very accurate.

Cheers - Tony

Hi Tony,

Thanks. I know the content packs were installed to my PC because I can see it in the control pannel of windows and I can see the files in my C:/cerberlink/ folder.

The problem is, the PD12 does not load these content packs. When I launch PD12, I do not see the number of templates increase before vs. after my content pack installation.

How to load content packs within PD12? Why PD12 shows empty in the upgrade--> installed pack tab? Mine is PD12 Ultimate, not those suite versions.

Hi again -

I wouldn't take ANY notice of what shows up in About > Installed Packs. It just isn't accurate! I have "extra" packs installed and nothing is listed. To be frank, I've never understood the reasoning behind the convoluted file paths for templates in PD.

What matters is whether you have all the templates.

Check these:
1. Load a couple of photos in the timeline - select them and click "Slideshow". How many slideshow templates are there? Is "Frozen Space" present?
2. Go to Create Disc > Menu Preferences. Is the "Memory" template in the library?
3. Go to Title Room > All Content. Is there a series (4) of title templates called "Autumn Romance"?
- if the answer is yes, yes & yes, Content Pack Essential is installed correctly.

4. With some media in the timeline, go to Magic Style or Theme Designer. Are there templates called "Notebook" & "Wallet of Media"?
5. In the Particle Room, are there some templates called "Framed Window"?
- If the answer is yes & yes, Content Pack Premium is installed correctly.

Hope that helps.

Cheers - Tony

Thanks a lot Tony,

This is perfect answer! Appreciated!

The answer is YES, YES, YES, YES, YES... So now I confirmed both essential and premium packs are loaded.

Thanks again for helping resolving my issues here.

I downloaded and installed the program but not the content packs. How do I now download the content packs? I cant find a place anywhere to DL them.

You would think the program itself would have a DL link or Update button to let you do that.

Hi Rodney -

Different versions install the contents packs differently. What makes you think they're not installed? Were there separate download links for the content packs?

A good way to check is to have a look in C:\Program Files (x86)\CyberLink\Templates\PowerDirector Content Pack 13 - if that's populated with two folders, each containing other sub-folders you're probably OK.

If not - we'll have to see how to rectify that.

Cheers - Tony

Tony,
I purchased the DL version and not the DVD. I ONLY downloaded the program and there were two more links to DL the content packs. But I had to leave and didn't get home until last night ( a week later) I cant find anyplace to download the content packs now.
(yes, they were separate downloads)

We had PWRDirector 10 and upgraded to 13. But the content packs didn't carry over like I was hoping it would.

Oh - I see.

I think it would be best to contact Customer Service - https://membership.cyberlink.com/support/customer-services.do - if you explain the situation & provide proof of purchase, they would be best placed to help.

Cheers - Tony

OK, I finally found a tiny little link somewhere that let me call support without having to pay 29.99. they sent me a link that was good for 24 hours to DL both content packs. AND I followed the instructions above to insure they were installed correctly. Yes they are.

SO now the question is... DID they remove some transitions from the older versions? On of my wifes most used transitions was push?? or Slide??? right and left. where the new picture pushed the other off to the side. She cant find that anywhere. Is there a way to get it back for version 13?
