SOLVED - HELP - POWERDIRECTOR 12 Menu structure

I am recently using powerdirector12 for the 1st time. I have navigated my way around quite well. What I am having a problem with is when I am playing back a DVD.

I am using a menu that uses a root menu and also a title/chapter menu. I have set up my project with chapter markers.

When I play the DVD (in a recorder), it brings me to the ROOT MENU - great : with the option to "play" or "scenes" - GREAT ; once I have chosen to play the whole video or select a scene to play, it plays fine. When that item is finished however, it does not go back to the root menu or the scene menu so I can select another option to play!

I am sure this is a really simple fix, but for the life of me I can not sort it out.

PLEASE HELP

I have this same exact original problem and tried the fix mentioned above but my clips still do not return to the menu after playing. Instead, they just ignore the Chapter markers and keep playing videos one after the other. Is there another issue at play here?

The Playback setting do not work on a single Video with chapters.

It only works on Titles, (two or more) video/project added on the Content Tab of Create Disk Module.

What I originally did was add all my videos to the timeline in the "Edit" tab and then saved them as a project. I thought that since I added Chapters between all the videos that it would separate them on the Menu scene selection and play basis with each video returning to the Scene menu after playing.

What you are saying I believe is that I need to add all the videos to the project with the "Create Disc" tab, Content area "Import additional videos" button. This is not very intuitive at least for me. Thanks for the advice, I would never had thought of that and will give it a try.

An additional question, is there any way to get rid of the Play button on the Root menu since all I want to do is allow the viewer to select certain videos on the "titles/chapters" menu and not play them all from the beginning?

You cannot change the Powerdirector menu structure of the two tier system.

There will always be Play, Scenes and Subtitle on the root menu.
Scenes show if more than one chapter/title.
Subtitle shows if Subtitle for Disk are defined in the Edit Module.

In the Create Disk Module, you can rename items on the root menu, the function remains.

Thank you for your reply, but I am surprised and disappointed. I remember as a youngster having to sit through what seemed to be hours of cine film before it came to the bit I really wanted to see. The irony is, I was previously with Corel and I moved to Cyberlink because I thought the chapters were easier to set. Is there any hope for a future update to incorporate this feature?

Yes.

PD 13 has a different Disk Menu system than PD 12.

If you want to see, try the Powerdirector 13 Ultra Trial.

Or you can just look at the Powerdirector 13 tutorials.

At a minimum, the instructions for how to properly effect a return to menu should really be made clearer somewhere in the production screens proper. Was very confused and had to frustratingly struggle/repeatedly search before findingound this information. My older software could effect this in one step, so I assumed that was the case here. You have an EXCELLENT chapter marking system, and the workaround is there, but I see this as a significant flaw that adds time, work and complexity to the production pipeline.
