Is there a UNIVERSAL STUDIOS Sweeping Title type Animation Plugin for PD11?

I want a title to sweep around a globe like The Universal name sweeps around the earth in title sequence of their movies. Is there anywhere I could get a plugin for my PowerDirector11 program that would let me do this?

Does PowerDirector support plugins? I was testing things out during the Trial/Demo and didn't see anything...

If it does, BorisFX has something like that, or you could create the text in the free (but with a learning curve) Blender 3d rendering program and import it into PowerDirector. Then you can create the globe and finalize it all in PD (I remember seeing a tutorial somewhere for spheres in PD but lost it now).

If I may add to this thread a related query: Does PowerDirector support plugins in this manner?

Powerdirector supports some plug-ins. Not all by any means.

New Blue is one, Pixelan is another. Smart Sound has a plug-in or two that work in Powerdirector.

Thanks Jaime-esque.
I'll check out Youtube, Carl, thanks.
Troy- I watched some of BorisFX part one- "Creating the Universal Title effect". Awesome.
Then I watched some of wikibooks ebook talking about Blender. I think I am going to try that.
Thanks Carl for plug-ins info.
I have been working lots on Tony Tona Ministries Opening sequence- I sure hope he likes it.
I don't have the MP4 component for PD11, BUT I think I have gotten the resolution quality up, creating what is perhaps a "super avi" file- going from MP4 from Youtube, then using H264 encoder in VideoPad output file options, then converting in AnyVdieoConverter to XVID, all at 60fps. Then working with that file in PD11. It may just be in my imagination, but it seems of higher quality... in fact- I'd bet on it.

I really like PowerDirector11. Thanks to the people at CyberTech for creating it.

G'day Tom -

To replicate that, you probably would need to look at other software. PD just cannot (but teach me if it can) replicate the wrap around motion where the word begins as a curve and ends up staight.

Using the video Carl linked above, I attempted to make something like it (the text motion). If you download it, you'll see what the keyframes do.

Thanks tony, I downloaded it and will try it.

I'm tweeking the name Jesus that comes up in front of a spinning earth for the TV intro. The only problem I'm having is that little changes done are hard to see in edit mode of PD11, and its only in the final version that you really see how it will turn out. That, for me, is after making PD11 product output an mpg in VideoPad ( I don't have MP4 component for PD11) SO, I have to do the whole thing- get it all finished, and only THEN do I see what the slight changes I adjusted in "fix/enhance" accomplished . And the fades don't play in the edit mode of PD11- it just skips past them- so you can't fine tune them in edit mode. Is there any solution?
Would having the Mp4 component installed in PD11 make an improvement?

Do you have QuickTime installed?

If not install it.
https://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/

QuickTime gives support for MOV and maybe MP4 files.

If I can pop back in for a sec and touch on this for a moment, you are correct Ynot, it would be a lot easier in other software (especially if they have a Template for it), but it would be possible in PD...

Messing around in the Trial, where I learned that you can't Justify paragraphs of 3D text yet (but you can Justify 2D Text), it seems to me that one could use the 3D manipulation controls (skew, pitch, yaw, extrusion, etc) to create the same effect, but it would have to be done one letter at a time, painstakingly lining up each letter and twisting them as they come across. Then, each one could be lined up and straightened out, finalizing the effect. It would just have to be done one letter at a time (move a letter around in space in PD and you'll see you can get the entire variety of movements needed in the well-built Designer). Shrinking them in size at the beginning and enlarging as the letters come around, it does seem possible though, to me - it would just take a looong time - at least until PD makes some pre-designed Templates for such movements of objects

Not a wrap-a-round, but there are a number of ways to manipulate text in ProShow Gold V-6
Create a short video in ProShow, publish to a video file, and insert in PowerDirector.

Here's a example... ( kind of like the wrap-a-round. ) http://youtu.be/qfnscpyhgiQ

Hmmm, that's odd that you don't see the differences in the main Preview window. If your system can handle it, did you right-click the Preview window and choose a higher Preview Quality ("HD Resolution",etc)? I found that adjustments of the Fine Noise effect and other things were much clearer once I turned it up.

It shouldn't be skipping the Transitions (Fade, etc) either, although I found that sometimes I would simply have to wait a bit for PD to 'settle into them' (perhaps it was rendering them in the background?), then it would play through the Transitions/fades/etc. If it simply is not doing so for some reason, you can 'preview' your transitions and effects by selecting a Range of video (the little yellow arrows) and going "Produce Range" and then you can render just that portion to see what effect your changes have made.
Edit:
Sorry, the "Produce Range" button is apparently only available in PD12. There is a similar 'Render Preview' or something in PD11 though, it looks like. The above information regarding changing the Preview Quality is still apt.

Troy & Loren -

I like your thinking! Great example Loren.

Tom - if you're not completely married to the idea of replicating the "Universal" idea, Troy's idea about usiong 3D-Like text could work quite well. Without going through the pain of keyframing each letter (which is better done in PiP Designer with the use of freeform keyframes), here's an example where 2 different 3D motion paths were applied to the whole title (attached).

It sounds, Tom, like your PC is struggling (GPU?) if it's not displaying the changes you've made straight away. Is your driver up to date?

Cheers - Tony

Hi Carl- No, I don't have QuickTime- not online. When I start PD11 it prompts me to download MP4 component- but of course I can not. A computer shop friend will do so when I take my desktop to him ( when I get a lift to the store) but I am afraid that although I may get it that first time- what if I have to do a reinstall- I would have to do so all over again. I wish I could get the component so I could do it when ever I need it.

Thanks Tony for the beautiful gold Jesus Logo coming around the earth with golden rays extending from it- That is gorgeous- I couldn't believe the sharpness ( viewing here on good library computer- not so sharp on my home computer- I think thats half my trouble- my limited system at home) I sent that clip to Tony Tona but he wants to use the stuff he got on YouTube in the intro. He called me last night and said he is satisfied with one of the clips I put together for him ( its al his idea though- I just assembled the clips)

Could anyone tell me- what are the little green rectangles that appear on the line where video clip "markers" are placed, just above the clip on top of the timeline view? When the video seems to be "rendering in the background" when I try to preview a clip, sometimes these little green rectangles act as a progress bar. Other times they just appear and I don't know what it is that I am doing that is causing it.

I'm sure I have a very inadequate system and so am not getting as much as I could out of PD!!- but I am learning to make the best use out of what I have- and I'm pretty happy with it. It is quite a tool.

Hey Tony- are you British? I ask as I have a friend in England--- I have a BHI ham radio noise reduction unit he sent to me from England (he built it from a kit) - right here in my backpack (I have to walk a mile into town to get in here to the internet- no car)
