Hi, I'm on a windows 8.1pc and today in my photo library appeared. Thumbnail for cyberlink photo director. I've never used it before and if I right click and delete it wants to delete the entire cyberlink suite. How do I remove it from the picture folder without deleting it completely

Hello Emmaedey99,

Welcome to the forum

The icon/thumbnail for PhotoDirector appears in your Pictures folder? Do you mean in Windows?

Have you installed PhotoDirector? PhotoDirector Suite? other CyberLink software?

Could you please post a screen shot or the exact file location? Is it like either of the screenshots attached?

Hello

Thank you for replying

It is the same as your screenshot on the left ( the one where it is in the pictures library)
Cyberlink came with the PC when we bought it so we didn't install it and don't have the installation cd it was bundled with the new PC
Hope this helps

That helps a lot.

That "PhotoDirector" folder contains subfolders of previously generated projects... but you say you've not used PhotoDirector previously (?). The Pictures folder happens to be the default location set by the software.

I checked at Libraries\Pictures & deleted the folder. It had no impact on PhotoDirector. Deleting the folder certainly didn't uninstall the software.

If it's a new PC, the bundled software is typically included on a disc.

I just installed a new HP PC in my daughter's home office. It came with PhotoDirector and some other Cyberlink software bundled from the factory.

I didn't spend much time exploring, but it appeared to require purchase for use.

Hello Bob,

Nice to see you again I like the avatar!

OEM versions of CL software aren't, of course, like the "full" versions. They're scaled down teasers.

There is, I believe, a way to upgrade to the full version but I haven't looked into it. It will take some $$$.
