Hi,
Has anyone experienced video judder (non-smooth playback) playing compressed MKV or Mp4 files with PowerDVD? I get this judder with files I create from DVDs using Handbrake. It does not occur when playing DVDs directly from the optical drive, playing the DVD from a ripped hard drive copy, or playing an uncompressed file of the same type.

System: Dell XPS 8700, i7 Intel CPU, NVidia GT 635, 16GB Ram, Windows Home Premium 64bit.
Monitor: ASUS PB238Q running at 1920x1080, TruColor 32bit, 60Hz.
PowerDVD: Ultra version 13.0.3520.58 SR# DVD131016-08 TR# TR131122-011

Does anyone have any recommendations, as far as Handbrake conversion settings, PowerDVD playback settings, or even Windows settings to alleviate or minimize this? I have tried many various settings with all and no luck so far. Playing the same videos with VLC or Windows Media Player achieves better (not perfect) results. I bought PowerDVD hoping it would make a positive change. Uncompressed files (especially BluRay) would require too much storage space for all the movies I have.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi,
the issue might be related to the different frame rate settings of your display and your media.

PowerDVD supports automatic frame rate switch for supported devices when playback DVD/BD media or folder structures.

well i for one have had this issue for years now with only powerdvd. even windvd works fine

I am using PowerDVD 15, and it gives me the option to display a blue-ray disk at its native frame rate of 24 fps. I confirmed this from the menu on my projector. However when playing a file (mkv rip) of the same movie this option does not appear (and it keeps the video card display rate of 50 fps) - even though the information about the movie file shows it was recorded at 24 fps.

Do I need to import the file into the library first?
