Video/audio sync issues - Persistent problems

I continue to experience pronounced video/audio sync issues. The video track lags behind the audio. It's noticeable and annoying. My preferred format is MP4 and I host my videos on Vimeo.com. Hoping someone could suggest the right combination of settings that would eliminate this very frustrating problem.

**The Video and Audio tracks have never been unlinked or separated, nor do I feel I should have to to render acceptable videos. Past attempts are VERY time consuming and it's simply too much trial and error.

Let me add.... I've tried every conceivable combination of file formats , video settings and audio settings with no luck. The ONLY thing that works is when I unlink the video from the audio and advance the video 3 frames. Frustrating!

Tried on 4 different devices - both WIN7 and iOS. All the latest version. Brand new iPad and iPhone. ***Cache and cookies were cleared a number of times** Vimeo web page AND Vimeo app - same results - Chrome, Firefox and IE - same results.

Please attach a DX diagnostic file, parts A & B, per the "Welcome" sticky at the top of this forum, to help folks get a feel of your system.

borgus1 - thanks for your reply but I fail to see the relevance of the specs of the machine used to produce the videos. The sync issue manifests itself on 4 different devices I use, and my customers also comment that they experience the same issue on their devices. My cache and cookies have been cleared numerous times. The videos I produce have been "split" from the source video. HOWEVER!... the video and audio tracks have NEVER been unlinked..... which begs the question: why is the video and audio out of sync in the final produced video? I've tried just about every combination I could think of regarding video and audio settings and file formats - to no avail.

I have a simple fade transition applied to the beginning and ending. My connection speed is 30+ MBPS. I have tried the recommended settings on the Vimeo support page and have even viewed the PD video tutorial on the Vimeo support page (which by the way is terribly out of date. PowerDirector 9?? It appears to pre-date HD).

This is very frustrating. I have seen other comments on this forum about this same issue.

Your produced video is out of sync, hence it plays out of sync on all players regardless of what you do. DXDiag file at least please. Remember this is a volunteer forum with no guaranteed results but if approached properly, these great people will help. There is a lot of knowledge here.

You fail to see how a dxdiag will help, but you also fail to see the problem. I am not trying to offend you, but maybe he knows what to look for. If not, you have only wasted a few minutes of time. __________________________________

Don't lose sight of the fact that the audio and video streams are muxed (two separate interleaved sets of data). and any form of manipulation of the original file can mean they have to be separated (de-muxed) and subsequently re-united to produce the new file. That may therefore not be true.

Depending on the source video, the computer is a little slow for editing. It is very close to the computer I used until recently, but should handle mp4 at 30 fps. Try to update your video drivers. You probably won't be able to run the latest version, but update as far as possible. Alzo make sure QuickTime is up to date. __________________________________

oldscout,

Looking through your DX file, are there two video cards in your system? Anyway the drivers are from 04/20/2011 possibly could use an update.

Your C: drive has only 48GB free, I believe somewhere I read minimum of 100GB free for producing.

Is all your work being done on the C drive?

There are numerous USB drives plugged into your system, could be fast or slower than C. Also can go to sleep if not polled often enough.

Any anti-virus or malware software running on your system in the background scanning processes and file access?

Screenshot your desktop, interested in seeing what's running by the clock.

Even though you have 2 cores and 8GB ram, background processes can easily kill your system.

And find a program called media info from mediaarea.net and on use it on your original file, export text file and upload to this thread as you did with the DXdiag so we can see what format your camera is using, maybe it is something in a setting with it.
