I received a replacement bluray disk from amazon/lovefilm and the player is again not able to play "The Counselor" without visual distortions/artifacts! So there is definitely a PowerDVD issue! Please can you also investigate on this title "The Counselor"?

use the software decoder option in the settings. you have a strong cpu which can handle the strain. if it fails, i guess it is powerdvd

[Post New]

you mentioned using powerdvd 12? personally that's the worst version i have used. maybe try a different version? meanwhile i'll read the entire thread. maybe i can find a solution

edit: your screen has a refresh rate of 59hz. can you change it to 60hz? my old ati didn't use optimal refresh rate either.

Hi KnickKnack,
we received the title "The Counselor" and we can playback the title in our lab.

The title indeed shows artefacts on certain positions (e.g. 00:11:53)

Hi Michael,

good to hear that you are able to reproduce the issue!
I really hope cyberlink is working on a fix because I just
received another brand new 20th century fox blu-ray title
"The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" (but the german version!)
and it has exactly the same issues!

So it seems new 20th century fox movies use a new
encryption/encoding technology which powerdvd 12
is not able to play properly!

Is a bugfix in the works?
