Hello all.

I am going to buy Powerdirector in a couple of weeks after i have built a new PC to be able to run it ( i have a old intel E8500 at the moment) and wanted some advice on the best CPU.

I am looking at two at the moment and these are at the max end of my budget for the CPU, the AMD FX8350 and the intel xeon 1230v3. I would just like to know which one is the most efficient with director 12 for HD editing?

And please give me any other advice for building a PC for this program.

Thankyou. Paul.

Isn't that a little bit like asking if you should buy a Ford or a Chevy? Much is personal preferences. I assume that you think they are equivalent in performance.

Why are you looking at a server processor?

The Xeon /ˈziːɒn/ is a brand of multiprocessing- or multi-socket-capable x86 microprocessors designed and manufactured by Intel Corporation targeted at the non-consumer workstation, server, and embedded system markets.

I suggest to use Intel 4rd Core i(aka Haswell) since PowerDirector is optimized for its AVX2 instructions and 4K accelerations. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks for the reply.

The Xeon 1230v3 works on the 1150 socket and is compatible with most mainstream boards. And is basically a i7 4770 quad core without the built in gpu.

So people are saying that it gives i7 performance for i5 prices and people are now buying them for gaming. i was just wondering if AMD would work as good as intel with powerdirector as powerdirector might use instructions that intel has but AMD does not, and the AMD in the Uk is £80 cheaper.

I did not word the question very well so my apologies for that.

Thanks again for the reply.

Thanks.

That makes it a lot clearer as i have just checked and indeed the AMD's dont have AVX2.

Thanks very much.
